This is the hardest race you will ever love. Come run in the Red Rock desert of Valley of Fire State Park. The challenge is to continue running amidst scenery so beautiful you’ll be tempted to stop and snap a picture. We welcome runners and walkers of all ages.
We have non-stop hills and scenery that will both literally and figuratively take your breath away! Honestly, there’s not a single flat mile on any of the race distance routes. So please train accordingly. We offer the amenities of BIG races but in a small race venue.
The Official Charity of Valley of Fire Marathon is Challenged Athletes Foundation. A portion of each registration fee, any additional donations from you or fundraising you would choose to do goes to benefit disabled athletes so that they may live adventurous, athletic lives. Now you can run in one of the most beautiful places in the world and help others while you do so. It’s win win. Of course, if you have a favorite charity you generally race and raise funds for, we certainly encourage that too!
Each year we’ll continue to invite members of the United States Military to run a “Shadow Race” by running one of the race distances we offer, wherever they’re stationed, on or around the date of our event. We will “sponsor” the first 10 military members who contact us, by sending them a finisher medal for participating.
The race is limited to 500 runners, primarily due to restricted parking availability and the very remote location. It’s a “small-town” race with a big race feel! We do our best to provide a world-class experience for you! Come join us!

it was 43 miles north of the strip. Hilly course on trail gravel road through the valley of fire state park. It was rough. Governor’s orders made it sort of virtual but many still ran the actual course. Good race directing. Medal was ok.
