This race ended up being so much better than I had anticipated. I was expecting a lot more of the run to be along busy roads, but it was not. We ran on paths for the first bit of the run, then ended up on quiet roads many of them closed to public traffic) for most of the race. The views along the Spokane River were amazing, and if you are looking for a Washington run, I would recommend looking into this event.
The one bad thing I have to report is at the end of the run. I finished shortly after 5 hours. The day of the run had been off and on rain and the temps were in the low 50’s, so most people were pretty uncomfortable when finishing. When I finished, the food truck that was there for the runners was packing up, so there was no warm food or food of substance available for the late finishers. There were pastries and chips available, but for me personally, the last thing I am looking for at the end of a long run is more carbs.

I did it for my WA state as 50 States. Best part of it for me was a course -big part of it on the Centennial Trail among the beautiful Spokane River, but it’s rolling hills (some runners don’t like it). Good portion of the course going on the road with traffic (not much traffic), but still need to be very careful because it’s very narrow shoulder in some parts of the road for running.
Weather was perfect with some beautiful fall scenery!
Production – very simple – they din’t even had an arch on starting line, only on finish . Aid stations runs mostly by students have only water , gatorade and Hammer gels.
Medal was nice! Marathoners got blue sweatshirts (I don’t like color at all), shorter races got cute (in my opinion) long sleeve tech shirts .
Overall it was fine for me, it fitted my schedule. Spokane town is nice , beautiful water front! The Coeur d’ Alene’s, ID is very close too.
We were able to visit 2 states!

Scenic and hilly
This was a very beautiful race, with a pretty decent elevation gain. Well organized, plenty of aid stations. Did not stick around for the after party. MORE
