Great spring time race along the Spokane river with trees blossoming and flowers blooming. Delicious post-race food with bakery items, fruit, chips, and protein bars. I walked this race with my 84-year old friend. It was her first 5K ever! She was so proud and felt so accomplished. She even got 1st in her age group! Thank you Negative Split for a race that almost anyone can do!

This was my first Spokane race after recently moving to the area. The half follows the river, mostly on the flat and well maintained Centennial Trail, for most of the race.
The race was well managed and everything was completed on schedule. The course was well marked and law enforcement was present at street crossings to stop traffic which they did flawlessly. There was good selection of post race food and drink, including delicious baked goods.
Overall I recommend this race for anyone looking for a season starter, their first race, or seasoned runners looking for a PR and a chance at a top 3 finish/age class win in a smaller race crowd.
Flat course. Great views.

Negative Split is the professional company that produces most Spokane runs and it has a great group and nice volunteers. The race courses, however, are trite and boring out and back same ol’ same ol’. I do them but events are mostly same course and out/back. T-shirts unimaginative. Still, if you are a runner they produce most events in town.

This race was well organized, thanks to the Race Director and volunteers; great announcer and music; great swag and medal (it links with the other upcoming 2 races, Windermere and Cd’A). Post-race food were good options. Parking was very convenient. It was fun to see all the local runners and people from out-of-town.

The scenic run along the river is a great way to enjoy an early season race. Gradual hills give you a bit of a challenge at times, but mostly the course is easy and allows you to work on speed! Pretty cold–but doable! I love this course, and most of the path is part of my normal training. This race allowed me to run my personal best in 2019.

The race course and just about every aspect was high quality. I was disappointed when I looked at online results and saw that the timing had added 20 seconds to my time. They said my time was 40:53 but my watch said 40:33. In 2019, I had problems with 2 runs and when I complained a 2nd time, a man named Eric Ewing with the timing company was a bit rude to me in an email, suggesting I not show up for future runs. In 2021 races, I did not have any timing issues but this race was different. Please look at the photo below taken by your photographer. I am crossing the finish line and the clock says 9:55:52. The 5K started at 9:15:00 so at the very least my time would be 40:52. I did not cross the start line exactly at 9:15:00. I am not a fast runner so I usually start in the back. Since it is a chip timed event the clock should only be running for me when I cross the starting mats and finish mats. With my time being padded by 20 seconds, It is almost as if you made my start time 9:15:00 and not approx. 9:15:19 when it likely occurred. My 2nd concern is the finish line photos. I cannot speak for the half-marathon, walking half marathon, or 10K runners but as I reviewed the 5K finish photos, most of the top runners are completely missing. Here are the top 10 5K finishers – name and bib# 1) Cordean Denny 27 2) Scot Auble 261 3) Jae Walz 614 4) Pepper Root 538 5) Dixie Sefton 785 6) Lucas Reynolds 589 7) Peter Tollackson 209 8) Noah Reischman 389 9) Quin Walz 612 10) Noah Hunt 254 When you look up these 10 individuals in the photo results, the result is the same – “no photos matching bib xxx found” I only searched the top 10 but I have a feeling many more individual finish line photos are missing. I could understand the photos missing certain runners because their number was not visible but how can the top 10 runners of the 5K be completely missing? Even if the finish line photographer took the photos as runners crossed the finish line mats with the time clock on the left visible in the photo, there should be photos of every finisher. I am curious if anyone else reported an inaccurate time or if anyone else was disappointed not to find their finish line photo.

It was an awesome run and I cannot wait to do it again next year. I really enjoyed how it ended in the park instead up in Kendall Yards. It should stay in the park in my personal opinion but either way I would still do the race. Negative Split always knows what they are doing and are very professional. I just wish it wasn’t so cold but that isn’t their fault of course. 🙂

I have watched this organization grow and it has made amazing progress. It was well organized, one of the best I’ve done, and well marked. The swag was great and the free food after hit the spot.

I loved running along the river in Spokane. I got see parts of it I would never see from a vehicle. Riverfront Park is an AMAZING area for a finish! It was a great course to try and PR on. Although, I was 4 min from a PR….it was a flat and fast course. Good vendors, good swag and very organized. Great volunteers!! So nice and smiles on everyone’s faces despite how cold it was. I will plan on running this every year.

This was my first time running The Split Half Marathon in Spokane and my 5th half marathon overall. The weather was COLD for this time of year but no wind and great staff/volunteers made the race go smoothly. The course was a bit challenging with a few hills, otherwise fairly flat. Staff/volunteers were encouraging throughout the whole journey and even provided some amazing free food after the race. Swag was awesome – my only regret is not purchasing additional clothing!

Awesome time every time at a negative split race. However the course change was rough. Really missed Kendall yards to the west portion. The out and back was tough, even though we had the scenery of the river. There were no hills this way tho so I guess that should count towards something. So it was a flat out and back. The race crew was awesome too. They cheered us on and then they even gave us cupcakes afterwards as it was the 10th birthday of negative split.
I'm planning on coming back for the half

Good flat course along the Spokane River. They had to adjust this year due to construction along the usual course, but they made it work. This is a scenic run from and to Spokane’s Riverfront Park. The course runs along the Spokane River and crosses it at one point to enter the Gonzaga University campus, then continues east along the river. Good organization and a nice shirt, plus goodies at the end!
