Not Just a Half, But the Fastest Heavenly Half. You will enjoy a rolling start, with a few short climbs to warm up those legs, then an almost all downhill point to point. This race starts at Cressman’s General Store (can’t wait to see the rebuilding), to the beautiful foothill community of Auberry.
This course offers great views of the valley and where the course was lined with pine trees, you’ll now see the rebuilding of mountain properties, and newly planted trees. Yes, you will still get lots of community support on this course!
Waiting for you at the finish line will be your Fresh & Hot Breakfast, Rosa Brothers Chocolate Milk, Custom Heavenly Half Marathon Finisher’s Medal, and of course the our finish-line party vibe where we aim to bring you, your family, and friends, a post run celebration that is well deserved, and just Heavenly.

This is a good challenging race to complete the Run The Valley series.
The race is a net downhill race, so you can expect fast times, but it does have some uphill parts in the first half of the race. It is a point to point race with shuttles from parking to the start, and from the finish back to parking.
The scenery is usually very beautiful, but the area is currently recovering from the recent fires. It is still pretty, just not at beautiful as it has been.
Date change to October is beneficial, as it’s cool at the start, but no snow on the course.
Good post race food, and free results info printed on a decal for the back of your medal.
Most hotels are about 45 min away in Clovis/Fresno, but worth the trip at least once.

Unfortunately this was the first of many races that were moved to virtual when covid 19 hit. It was moved to virtual 3 days before the event and The race organizers did a great job communicating the updates. They even mailed out missing swag that was delayed due to covid. Result page was easy to navigate.

Downhill course. Luckily I was planning to run with my 62yo mother. Needed a running buddy this course because it snowed the day before and there was BLACK ICE on the trail. No one PR’d this year I’m guessing. The views were off the chart. Good swag but DIDN’T HAVE THE RIGHT SIZES / RAN OUT OF YOUR SIZE.
My legs still hurt 3 days later!

Gorgeous downhill race made very challenging by black ice, snow and curvy roads with extreme camber. I had a fabulous time, even though it was difficult to keep a decent pace while avoiding slipping on the ice! Swag was the best, as always with a Sole to Soul race. Race started late, which is also common for Sole to Soul, but no big deal. I would absolutely recommend this race!

The course is almost all downhill, but I gave 4 shoes for difficulty? Well, you understand that if you run that race. 3 miles flying downhill is fun, at 6 miles you’ll pretty much feel your quads and hamstrings, and soon your quads will beg you to stop. But you cannot really stop since it’s so downhill. The only thing what you can do is a Jens Voigt quote to you legs: “Shut up legs!”. I totally enjoyed this race multiple times though, I just warn you to not take it lightly! And if you have any knee or ankle problems, or some muscle injuries I would probably not advise this race due to the toll on legs. At least if you push it at a pace like me.
Besides that it’s a usual Sole to soul race: very good organization, refreshments, professional. Only thing is that the restrooms were too full at the latest edition, so much so that I didn’t have a chance to go. I’m sure they gonna improve on that because the 2014 edition was better in that respect.
