The Canadian 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon Runs are a big part of “The Canadian” day of multi-sport events. They are being held throughout the day so you will have to get up early for the 5K and 10K, but get to sleep in a bit if you are interested in the half marathon.
The runs are held in conjunction with the Canadian Triathlon and Duathlon. This positioning allows recreational runners to join in the fun and chaos of The Canadian. It will be a blast!
The 5K & 10K start line is on the track inside the stadium at the finish line. Runners exit the stadium and follow the paved pathway through Mooney’s Bay Park to Riverside Drive. They run along Riverside Drive and Revelstoke Drive to the 5km and 10km turn points.
The half marathon start line is on the recreational pathway adjacent to the stadium beside the bleachers. Runners follow the paved pathway through Mooney’s Bay Park to Riverside Drive. They run along Riverside Drive and then Revelstoke Drive to the Turn Around point which is on Revelstoke Dr. The Half Marathon consists of 4 complete loops of this course.
Event highlights:
– A City run with a ‘homey’ feel
– Later-in-the-day half marathon start
– Join in to run with The Canadian 113 Triathlon/Duathlon participants who started earlier in the day
– 4 hour time limit for the half marathon (so walkers are welcome!)
– Finisher’s medal to all who make the 4 hour cut off
– Great SWAG
– Post event RMT and GRB (that’s GRB = grub) for half marathoners

A late start for a warm summer day but I get why. As an ironperson participant, I see why they want more runners on the course in the afternoon. Beautiful course, lovely support and a must-do if you are in the Ottawa area.
