Of all of the trail races I have done, this is probably the kindest one. Very gentle for the first 4 miles, 300 foot ascent, then descent and flat before turning around. Beautiful scenery, although sometimes the smell of the nearby farms is a bit much! That being said, I will continue to come back!

The first 5 miles are a lovely, flat jog past orange trees. The weather that time of year is typically divine, and that was true of my race day. The hill was tough, though, as you may expect. It’s a fairly narrow track with returning runners coming from the other direction, so I took it very carefully and walked much of the way up and down to play it safe. If you’re not feeling too hurried and just want to enjoy the beautiful California sunshine, I thought it was a great excuse to get out of the Midwest for a weekend in February!

Ten race participants were at airport flying into CA when we received email that our race was postponed due to rain. Jeff S. was so very helpful with assisting us in this difficult situation. While we won’t be able to return on March 16, we will definitely try to make it back next year. Big Kudos to San Pasqual for making the best of a tough situation
