This race used to be called the Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon. The name and race organization changed in 2023 — it’s now the HOKA Runaway Sydney Half Marathon. It’s one of two major half marathons in Sydney. It’s quite a large race and has a great and varied course. But be prepared for hills! The race is held in May, which is winter for Australia. The weather was in the 60s throughout most of my time there. This is a large race and well organized. The expo was also very large and had many vendors. The only downside was that they did not supply a racing t-shirt for the race.
This race was wonderful and mostly flat. The course takes you through the downtown Sydney streets. It also takes you past many of the tourist spots including the Sydney Harbor Bridge. I can’t recall much about the actual course but I remember having a really good run. The weather was great, the course was beautiful, and there were many spectators.
