The course is pancake flat and well paved. The race was capped at a fairly small number of participants, so there was plenty of room to run your own race. Weather happened to be perfect, with a clear view of Mount Rainier and some cherry blossoms in parts. Medal was fine, and appreciated that I could have my bib mailed. The rest was pretty no-frills.

The good folks at Orca Running delivered another winner today, with a flat, beautiful course along the Green River in Kent that allowed me to *almost* PR. (The sunny weather didn’t hurt, either!) My speedy performance surprised me, but I wasn’t at all shocked that the race went off without a hitch.

Such an amazing, intimate race on a beautiful trail. Mt Rainier popping out along a quiet course made a stop to snap a picture necessary. Easy trail, great aide stations and encouraging volunteers made this probably my favorite 10K to date despite my performance. Can’t wait to do the half! Highly recommend this race to everyone!

Inaugural event with the customary great organization and production that we’ve come to expect from Orca. With less than 200 doing the half, this had a low-key feel which I like. The route was an out-and-back on paved road and trail, following alongside the Green River. 2 aid stations with water and electrolytes and though the race is advertised as cupless, there were paper cups for those that had forgotten their bottle/hydration. (Don’t know if that will always be the case as Orca are trying to be greener). Pleasant course and afterwards there were a few vendor and sponsor stands, including new sponsor REI, offering free nalgene bottles, lights and great discount coupons. Swag was a comfy cotton blend t-shirt (great to wear as a regular shirt, personally wouldn’t race in it), and beautiful medal. Great friendly vibe and a good race, even though I was slower today!
LOVED this race!

So happy that I got to run the inaugural Run the Green Half! The course was awesome and quite flat. Medal was so beautiful and race t-shirt was so cute, as expected with all Orca Running races. All the vendors in the post race area were fantastic. I can’t wait to run it again next year! Highly likely going to make this an annual tradition with my running pals! 🙂

The race was on a nice, wide, paved path! It’s much more enjoyable than running on the streets (where I typically run)! It was also completely flat! I was super impressed with Orca’s race production. The start/finish was great, there was plenty of space for everyone, plenty of toilets, awesome music, and everyone was so nice! After the race, there was plenty of food, the medal was awesome, the shirt was so soft, and the extra swag you could purchase was irresistible! I was super appreciative that I was able to switch my shirt for a different size, I wasn’t sure what size I would be and I definitely guessed wrong. Oh and I have to mention the parking! LOVE that there were actual parking lots for us to park in! I worry about parking sometimes when signing up for races, especially near Seattle. I would definitely do this race again, and would recommend it to anyone!! Orca Running, you guys did amazing! ((If I could change anything… Honestly, I don’t know that I would change anything about this race! It was great! Okay, I wish the shirt was green (run the Green, and the day after St. Patrick’s Day?) But yellow is my favorite color, so it’s one of my favorites already!))

The course is what attracted me. It is a super flat, fully paved out and back course separated from traffic. It is hard to find a flat course in the Puget Sound Region. This if the best I’m aware of south of Renton. I’m happy to have set a huge PR here on a legitimate course that doesn’t have a huge elevation drop. Runners of all ability levels could PR here. It is lonelier at the faster paces, but clearly some other fast runners were attracted by the same conditions, because in the first year of the race 15 people finished under 1:30, 10 were 1:25 or faster and the top 3 were all under 1:20. Hopefully the conditions attract even more speedy runners, and other runners of all ability levels in the future. The Green River is a nice setting, but this time of year it doesn’t show as well as it could, because the trees don’t have their leaves yet. Orca events are always well organized.

On a whim I decided to sign up for this race the afternoon before, but I am so glad I did. I’ve lived in the Seattle-area for most of my life, but I had never been on the Green River trail until today. All I can say is, I will definitely be back to do MANY more runs on that trail because it is so scenic. The course is also flat and fast— a great race to run if you’re looking to PR! The race was very well organized and the volunteers/staff were all so friendly! I also always love the medals and other swag from Orca Running races. Overall I definitely recommend this one and am hoping I will be back for it again next year!

This was a great inaugural run put on by Orca Racing. The route is relatively flat on a nicely paved trail with pretty views of the river, mountain, and valley. There was a nice park for the start and finish line to hang out at and plenty of parking in a nearby commercial lot. The swag was super pretty and loved the soup at the finish.

Loved the course! Orca brought a race to the South Sound, so it was nice to not have to drive too far since I live in Pierce County! Nice and flat, and great views of the river and golf course! If the start time would have been a little earlier (like around 7 🤪), I would have give it a 10/10. But still, a fantastic inaugural race!

I loved this race! The out-and-back course was almost completely car-free, so no watching for traffic or trying to stay next to the curb (or sucking car exhaust). It was on a wide, asphalt trail that paralleled the Green River, so lots to look at. Course volunteers were super supportive and helpful. The aid stations were well stocked and at 3, 6, 7, and 10 miles. I’m not usually a half runner, but this event might have to become my new annual tradition. (Neat side bonus: the park at the start and finish had an actual bathroom. Like for real.) Orca did it again.
