What was the best or most unique aspect(s) of this race?
Running thru high desert steppe during peak wild flower season, among the 149 wind turbines of the Wild Horse Wind and Solar Facility, with fantastic support from Kittitas County Search & Rescue (KCSR).
The weather helped a lot in 2025 – clear and warm with relatively light winds. Other years apparently have been colder and much windier. But then it is a Wind Energy Facility. Nearby Ellensburg is a fun place to spend a night and time during the day.
Race support included aid stations with paramedics & communications provided by KCSR, very adequate port a potties (and a heated restroom in the visitor center). Post race meal of chili, corn bread, and a very popular local beer. Swag was a nice wooden medal & a choice of beanie or mug, and really nice finish line photos. Tours of the wind facility and turbines were available. The proceeds of the event go to KCSR.
Definitely a very recommendable event!

unique setting, awesome post party
Hard race, but fun, unique setting on a wind farm, beer, chili, music, wooden medals and overall great vibe. Organized really well and swag was decent. MORE
