The expo was awesome. Open space, a lot of free samples, and free T-shirts.
The scene during the race was unforgettable. I saw runners with a camera on a stick and filming while running. Really beautiful.
Great scenery and swag

Weather was in our favor this year but October in Florida is very touchy with temperatures and hurricanes. Expo was out of race specific shirts after the first day and I find this to be the case with most RNRs. This is disappointing because I always like the expo shirts more than the registration shirts. You run 3 overpass/bridges and some other hills which are no fun but the view over the water is nice. Also the medal was cute but little.
Why's my name Florida?

Took a couple of years to get this race going but it finally happened. Best parts of the race:
– the weather was wonderful
– the race was mostly flat, but there were some surprise inclines (bridges)
– it was ridiculously beautiful
– I met all three of my goals to finish the race, beat a previous race time and beat three previous race times
Not so cool parts:
– the expo was outside and it was stupid hot
– what swag? RnR races expos have been lackin more and more each year
– the volunteers struggled to provide water at times
– some parts of the running required jumping up/onto the sidewalks and too much potential for injury
– took forever for the race to start
Ultimately, happy to have participated in this race, because I was due to knock Florida out, but also happy that this will be my last RnR race. Ready to venture out to other venues!

This race was ridiculous from the start. Was told by three different volunteers three different locations for the gear drop. Spent 20 minutes prior to the start trying to find it. Zero signage other than a small sign over booth. Less than a quarter of a mile from the start you turned a corner and had an immense intercoastal bridge 90’+. I was hoping to PR, thinking it was a Florida flat course, but that was nixed 2 minutes from the start. There ended up being 3 bridges of nearly equal height and after the last one an actual hill at the bottom of the bridge that was half as high as the bridges. I ran Boston last year and these bridges put the “Hills of Newton” including “Heartbreak Hill” to shame After that was some tricky maneuvering to get in a bike path for a couple of miles dropping you into a neighborhood with speed humps everywhere. I guess they put the course where they could. Just a bad overall experience but it is a Rock n Roll series race so you get what you pay for. Never again…

The Expo was excellent, it was beautiful outside with lots of vendors and a few free items. Loads of backdrops for pictures, the music was great. It was extra special for me: my first half and my 55th birthday, so this event has been out at the top of my list. There were plenty of bands on the course, the photographers were great, the crowd was very supportive. The scenery for the first 6 miles was picturesque. Mile 7 to 11 was city view and a little boring. The finish line was very hyped and I celebrated my first half.
