Mt Lemmon Retired
In order to accomplish our mission of providing runners the fastest and best races possible, we occasionally have to retire an event. It is possible that this race may return in a future year. In the meantime, join us at a current REVEL race.
This incredibly fast and remarkably beautiful road race takes runners from the forests and canyons of Mt Lemmon to the foothills of Tucson, Arizona. Featuring a smooth downhill slope and spectacular scenery in the Coronado National Forest, this race will be sure to help you set your PR and finally hit that Boston Qualifying time as it is the fastest marathon and half marathon in Arizona. REVEL in speed. REVEL in beauty. REVEL down Mount Lemmon!
REVEL Mt Lemmon is a point-to-point course, and as such we will bus you from the finish line to the start line. The cost of busing is included in your entry fees. You do not need to reserve a spot on the bus, as your bib is your ticket to ride. ALL PARTICIPANTS must take a bus to the start lines (you may not park at or be dropped off at the start lines).

This was my third Revel race and first time running Mt. Lemmon. I am becoming a big fan of Revel races. Everything about their events are first class. The pre race comunaction and instructions made morning parking and suttle a breeze. The course water stops and support was excellent. The finish line and post race nutrition was also well above above average. The medals are very nice and if you place in your age group they give you a really cool patch that wraps around the ribbon stating what place you finished. When I signed up for this half the elevation loss was a 3100 ft. But about a month before the race they changed the course. This was supposedly done to remove the early uphills in the full marathon. That meant that both races were pushed down Mt. Lemmon about 4 miles. Unfortunately for the half this removed 1000 feet of elevation loss and made the course much slower than before and also quite difficult. The first 7 miles basically lost all 2100 feet then the rest was flat with some rolling up and downhils. I ran the first 7 miles faster than I have ever ran but when the down hill ended my legs were done. I was very surprised how hard it was to run those last 5+ miles. I still finished 3rd in age group and 33rd overall but if the course was all downhill I would have probably shaved 8 minutes off my finish time. The scenery for those first 7 miles was awesome, after that not so much I’m not sure if I would run this race again on it’s current course. But if you haven’t ran it you should do it once to take in those first senic 7 miles.

Beautiful view! Loved the course. The bus ride to the marathon start seemed to go on forever… very well organized. Lots and lots of downhill! Not many spectators along the course due to the location, which I surprisingly liked (was able to focus on the run and scenery).
Fastest course ever

Gravity was my best friend. I flew down the mountain until it flattened out at mile 12. Then, it felt like my legs couldn’t lift off the ground enough to get across the finish line. Still, it was one of my favorite courses.
