I am not a trail runner. I trained on plenty of hills but my training didn’t prepare me for what I encountered at this race. The trail was very rocky and I was afraid that I was going to roll an ankle the entire time. I tripped 3 times and luckily I caught myself with palms on the ground. Good thing I had gloves on. I wish I had known how technically challenging it would be so that I would’ve bought trail shoes. Overall, the race was extremely well produced, which is what I have come to expect from Dehn, Lyle and the VR team.

Gravity was my best friend. I flew down the mountain until it flattened out at mile 12. Then, it felt like my legs couldn’t lift off the ground enough to get across the finish line. Still, it was one of my favorite courses.
