Redmond Watershed Preserve is known for its especially well-groomed trails, gently rolling hills, and forests thick with fern. Novices appreciate that there is less to trip on and more room to pass than other more technical venues, while veterans enjoy besting their personal records on the smooth dirt carpet. So lace up, grab your beanie, and brighten up a gray winter day with a vibrant green forest.
Both Redmond Reindeer Romp courses have low to moderate climb and mostly relatively wide, smooth trails, with few steep parts.
The aid station is located at the loop turn-around for half marathon runners, which is about halfway (3.5 miles) into the 6.55 mile loop. Running two loops, the half marathon runners will visit this station twice. There will not be an aid station on-course for 5-mile runners, but food and hydration will be available at the finish.
The aid station offers water, electrolyte drink, and some carbohydrate-rich or salty foods, such as cookies, pieces of energy bar, gels, chews, chips, bagel, fruity candy, fig bars, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and/or bananas.
Join us for a 5-mile or half marathon trail run at Redmond Reindeer Romp, the third event in the Winter Trail Series!

I’ve been doing these races for about five years and the community is so friendly and supportive.

Though I carried my own supplies, the aid stations were available, and the finish line offered great post-race snacks, including soup. Convenient shuttle services ran continuously between the parking area at the golf course and the preserve trailhead. Overall, it was a fantastic experience that I would gladly repeat.

The trail was gorgeous and relatively easy, so it made for a nice vacation run. The group is a little more competitive than I’m used to in the laid back bay area, but I still managed not to come in dead last!
This seemed like more of a self-service race, there were no aid stations on the 5 mile course, I’m not sure about the half marathon. But given that it was quite cool and drizzly it didn’t really matter for me.
No swag to speak of – no medals, shirts or even ribbons, but there were snacks at the end so that helps
Overall, Northwest Trail Runs seems like a great group – nice people, nice routes and what looks like a few good running series in Summer and Winter. I’m looking forward to more vacation runs with them.
