This was a small town, no-frills race. The Race Director put in a lot of work to make this a successful race. Based on that, I would do this race again and possibly volunteer. Packet pickup was in the warehouse of the Running Store. Shirts were available for purchase. The course was a little tough with some hills, but it was doable. We were on a sidewalk the majority of the race. The heat added to the toughness. The medals and awards were engraved by the Race Directors’ mom. I love this and it makes them special. Water, pretzels, Gatorade and soda were offered on the course. Post-race food was chips, watermelon slices, and cookies. I may have missed other things.
The biggest con for me was the 5k’s, 2pm start time.
I recommend this race if you like a small race. I will do it again.

This was a really fun race. Still in it’s relative infancy (I think this was the third or fourth year) it’s pretty small but a good course. There wasn’t much communication from the RD leading up to the race but when I reached out he was responsive. There were a few places I almost went the wrong way due to minimal signage. All things considered, it’s a good race and I think it will only get better. My time suffered due to heat and an IT band injury but still so much fun!

This race was put on by a runner from rapid city that wanted to show his town to fellow runners and we all know how hard it to run a race and it is nothing compared to putting one on. I signed up because it was posted on 50 states that is was free, I thought the city was putting it on to showcase their city. This was not the case. My reviews reflect this is one guy with his family and friends putting on this race for love not money. For free you don’t expect much but when was the last time you saw a jar of pickles at a water stop. When we finished there was cold watermelon. There were shuttles to take us to the start of the race and shuttles to bring us back. The fast runner then got their cars and shuttled us slower runners back. There were no asked to do this but they volunteered, the water stations had cold water and someone had also left a case of water at various spots on the course. It was well marked and most of it was run a bike pass so there were no bottle necks. The runners and volunteers were super friendly and it was good to run a race that was not about money . The bib was a picture of runners shoes and the shirt was runners running along the bike pass, out of his control was the heat wave of 92 that week. You just slow down and get more minutes per dollar spent. More work is needed on race website to show the actual map of the point to point- it would mean much to me as I
Am from Los Angeles but I am always afraid of getting lost in a small race
