Get ready for Prairie Line, formerly Red Coyote Half Marathon—an exciting race experience in the heart of Oklahoma City. Prairie Line offers two distances: 5K and Half Marathon to showcase beautiful downtown OKC, Scissortail Park, Skydance Bridge, and other historic landmarks.
The Red Coyote Half Marathon and 5K will start and finish at Loves Travel Stage area and run down the main promenade across the Skydance Bridge on the way to the Oklahoma River Trails. The route runs through both the upper and lower parks before turning east on SW15th Street to Walker Avenue. Both courses run south on Walker across the Oklahoma River.
The 5K proceeds south on Walker to the turn point then follows the same out and back route to the finish.
The half marathon course turns into Wiley Post Park to join the south river trail. We’ll follow the trail to the west until we reach the turn point just past the River Cruise Pavilion. Along the way we’ll pass the Wheeler Ferris Wheel, the Stockyard City Sign, and the Dell Corporate Campus. We’ll return to the finish following the same route on the out and back course.
As you traverse the Skydance bridge for the final time you’ll enjoy a downhill finish and an amazing view of Scissortail Park, Downtown OKC, and most importantly, the Red Coyote Finish Line!
The half marathon course is flat to gently rolling with only 38 feet of elevation difference with the Skydance Bridge comprising the biggest hill. This route is suitable for runners and walkers of all abilities.
Prairie Line is the culmination of the Red Coyote Half Marathon training program and is open to all paces and abilities.

First time visiting Oklahoma and ran this race toward my 50 states. It nicely aligned with Salina Kansas on Saturday just a few hours away to “double dip” on this side of the states. Very easy packet pickup at the running store who hosted the race. I stayed at the Sheraton which was an easy 12 min walk to the start/finish (bonus when these are in the same spot!) perfect sized race, small but always had some people nearby, never overcrowded. Nice “meditative course” where you can kinda cruise control. Out and back along the Oklahoma River and through a nice park. Mostly flat, gentle rolling hills sprinkled in. Suuuper super windy this particular day, but the sun helped with warmth. Plenty of aid stations and friendly support. Enthusiastic MC, good snacks after. Took a while to warm up after but there are many cute coffee shops walkable to the area – def recommend this race for your Oklahoma needs!

The website for this race was rather bland, but the actual race was great! It was my first visit to Oklahoma City and the start/finish in Scissortail Park and the run along the river trails were a nice way to see the city. The terrain was mostly flat with very gentle rolling hills. There were two out-and-backs so there were opportunities to see the other runners.
The running store that produced the race has an avid fan base and they were calling out support to each other all along the out-and-back course. Many of them had “Run with the Pack” shirts and everyone was so friendly that by the end of the race you felt like part of the pack, too. The finish line announcer seemed to know most of the 600+ runners by name. There were standard pace groups and also groups of runners who were run-walking.
The swag was impressive. Instead of a race shirt, they gave us a towel. I was surprised to see a quality, colorful towel the size of a beach towel that even had snaps to convert it to a wrap. It came in its own bag. The medal was in the shape of Oklahoma, plus they provided plenty of free race photos quite quickly. There were race shirts available for sale.
There was standard food at the end: bagels, bananas, snack bars, water, Gatorade, and probably other stuff but I didn’t stick around too long because I had breakfast waiting at my hotel. If you won an award, you could immediately pick it up at the results tent.
I would have given high marks for scenery but the river had a lot of floating trash and smelled like a sewage pond in places.
nice, flat course mostly along the River
Very simple course, mostly flat along running trail on the river. Not a highly populated race, less than 1k runners. Medal was ok, no race shirt included. MORE
