Worst race organization I’ve ever seen. It started late, they changed the course the day before, none of the “officials” knew anything at the start. The course was not blocked off from the public and there were dozens of pedestrians walking and biking the 6-7mile segment, none of which would move and forced racers to weave in and out over the uneven gravel median. It was impossible to get into a groove. Worst of all, the marathon was 26.7, despite being a Boston Qualifier…who certified this? How do you fail to measure a course properly? I expect small margins of errors on courses, but to be off by over half a mile? Absolutely pathetic. The shirt is also the worst quality and ugliest design of all the races I’ve done. Incredibly frustrating to train for months on end only to show up to a completely amateur-run race. Save yourself the headache and find a legitimate race for a fall marathon. The only good parts were that the weather was nice and it is a very pretty run (not fast) along the Potomac, neither of which were in the race coordinator’s control.
