The Papa Loco Marathon & Half Marathon is the annual loop-de-loop of Tucker Creek Trail in Conway, Arkansas. Loco is a laid back race with ample aid station support, approximately every half mile, offering both full and half marathon distances. And with an eight hour time limit for both it’s the perfect choice for a first full. (We are walker friendly!) Plus, at only $45 for either race, Loco is a bargain!
The Loco Marathon and Half Marathon was born six years ago over breakfast as some of the members of Team Loco licked our wounds in the lobby of a hotel room in Memphis, TN. The St. Jude Marathon had been iced out and several of us were depending on that race to qualify for either Marathon Maniac or Half Fanatic status. After some pancakes and probably too much coffee, the idea for the Team Loco races was born. Surely we, a dedicated group of runners could put on a race that met the qualifying standards for the Maniacs and Fanatics. After lots of hustling and more than a little hand wringing, the inaugural Team Loco Marathon and Half Marathon was held in January of 2014. Many Maniac, Fanatics and more importantly memories were made that day. What several of us thought might be a one off turned into an in demand race.
One of the things that makes Team Loco what it is is this….we love providing the opportunity for social interaction for runners and walkers, no matter what their pace. We hope those of you that join us will find this atmosphere to be one of your favorite races ever.
