The Panama International Marathon begins in the parking lots of the Miramar Hotel, takes Balboa Ave. to the Seafood Market where you turn left to take the Cinta Costera III until you reach the return of the Maracana. From there, return throughout the Cinta Costera until the viaduct of Paitilla, which ends at the Israel Road and continues along this path until arriving at the Atlapa Convention Center. Then takes the Cincuentenario Ave. to connect with the entrance to Costa del Este, takes this entrance and pass in front of the DHL offices, continue along the boulevard of this area, pass the Arrocha pharmacy and continue along this main road until reaching the End of the Malecon, where it returns by this same way until arriving to the Cincuentenario Ave. Take the right to make a “U” turn under the bridge of Chanis, and then return by the Cincuentario Avenue passing Panama Viejo and continue to the Atlapa Convention Center, then continue via Israel road and arrives at the Paitilla viaduct to end at the Miramar parking lots where the final goal is.

Maraton Internacional de Panama is a very well organized marathon race. Runners have the choice between the full and the half marathon. The expo takes place in a hotel in downtown which is easily to find. Very unspectacular in a small room you get your bib and a quite nice T-shirt. The full marathon starts at 4.30 am which makes sense as Panama City is hot and humid like hell. The half marathon starts at 6 am although the internet page said 6.40 am. Fortunately the lady at the expo told me to be on time as the race would start at 6 am. Start and finish takes place on a parking space in front of Intercontinental and Le Meridien Hotel on famous Balboa Avenue which makes it VERY easy if you´re staying in one of these hotels. The course is quite nice with several uphill parts and give runners a good impression of the city of Panama. Very nice medal at the finish and good atmosphere. Cold water is provided very frequently and believe me: you need it – not only to drink it but also to pour it over you and cool you down. I can highly recommend this race if you´re fine with hot and humid conditions (talking about 30-35 degrees celsius and 90-100% humidity).
