The Old Turnpike Half Marathon takes place at the one-of-a-kind Abandoned Pennsylvania Turnpike! Featured in a movie, once billed as the “World’s Greatest Highway”, and surrounded by the stunning scenery of Buchanan State Forest and the Allegheny Mountain Range, this half marathon is a must! Run through the 1.26 mile long Sideling Hill tunnel and the kilometer-long Rays Hill tunnel.
Course Safety Statement
Please be aware that this stretch of road has not been recently paved, therefore, parts of the pavement are rough at times. In addition, head lamps are required to be worn when running through the tunnels. These tunnels are dark, can be slippery, and running through them without a head lamp can be dangerous. Wolf Creek Race Management staff will remove as much debris as possible from the road prior to race day. Portions of the road have significant graffiti. Warning: Some of this graffiti contains obscene language and graphics. Participation among children 17 & under is prohibited.
Portable restrooms will be placed in the Cove Valley Travel Plaza parking lot and along the course.
Aid Stations with refreshments and first aid kits will be available along the course.
Race Parking is available at the Cove Valley Travel Plaza alongside the Old PA Turnpike. The start & finish line is less than 200 meters from this parking lot.
