About the 26.2 Mile Course
The Ocean City Marathon course will include all the scenic hot spots of the southern tip of OC. The race will start and finish in the inlet parking lot along the shores of the Atlantic Ocean. The course will cross Isle of Wight Bay into West Ocean City and follow an out-and-back route between miles 2 and 25, making its way to the turn around point at Assateague State Park. The return route finishes at the Inlet but not before following along nearly a mile of the famous Ocean City boardwalk.
About the 13.1 Mile Course
The Ocean City half-Marathon course will start at Assateague State Park and follow the last 13.1 miles of the full marathon route. The course will merge with the marathon participants and follow the same route across Isle of Wight Bay from West Ocean City to the finish line at the Ocean City Inlet but not before following along nearly a mile of the famous Ocean City boardwalk.
About the 8K Course
The Ocean City 8K course will cover much of the famous Ocean City boardwalk. The race will start and finish in the inlet parking lot along the shores of the Atlantic Ocean. After covering portions of Baltimore Avenue and N. Division Street and crossing under the “Boardwalk” archway the route will head north along the boardwalk to 27th Street where it will turn around and make its way back to the Jolly Roger at the Inlet amusement park and finish in the Inlet parking lot.

State 34+1 Maryland done. The Ocean City Half was a pretty good race. Packet pick up was pretty easy and held at the convention center. It’s a point to point run and the shuttle was super easy. Course was mostly flat with the only real hill at the beginning going up a bridge. Got to finish on the board walk which was pretty cool also. The after party was pretty big as there was 4 total races today. Not many food options at the end but maybe i missed them. Big time stomach issues and was trying to not toss up my gels. Would totally recommend this one if you need Maryland.

I ran the first Ocean City Marathon and the weather was horrible that particular day. Keep in mind there is no shade on this course, and when I ran it was nearly 90 degrees. I ran a pretty slow 3:56, but it ended up being first in my age group. I was a little disappointed the “award” for first in your age group was just a little tiny key chain. Overall it was a nice low key race. There is good crowd support, but you also go through areas where it is quiet for some time. While the course is flat, there is a relatively large upward climb when you get to Assateague State Park. After party is okay, I was pretty tired and really just left. I would recommend, hopefully weather is better other years.

My biggest and main concern was the weather, which unfortunately nobody can control. With humidity it was ~86 F. There wasn’t any electrolytes at the early stops (I think they got swamped before I arrived) and I had to slow it down because I was cramping, and it was suspect heat exhaustion cramps. I actually just walked the last 2ish miles. I indirectly know someone that suffered heat stroke and was in the hospital 3 days from running this, so I’m thinking I made the right call.
That aside, the course is very flat and it is definitely scenic. I think they did a good job considering this was the inaugural. I would recommend going forward.
Flat/fast course - 3 miles on boardwalk
Well organized, shirt size swap right at packet pickup, small but nice expo, only one slight uphill, get to splash around and cool down in the ocean after race. MORE

Excelent job on this first time race hats off. The only problem might have been to have a couple more water stations early. the second half seemed closer together as they moved some accross the road. The swag both medal and long sleeve shirt fantastic. the board walk to Assateague Island great layout with unfortunate small shoulder and busy trafic between. Volunteers and support was fantastik and helped manage the road well.
