For those who prefer a city marathon, the Colourful Nuuk Marathon takes place towards the end of summer. Although the route is mostly on paved roads, this does not mean that the event is any easier than Greenland’s other marathons.

Well, running in Greenland is fantastic – no matter what race! The scenery is awesome and during summer the weather conditions are perfect almost every day. Nuuk Marathon is a race in the capital of Greenland starting in downtown. The city of course is not very big so everything is easy going. There is no expo. Runners get the bib numbers in a supermarket just next to the start. The atmosphere is great with live music. Of course the race is a happening in the small town of Nuuk where not much is happening. The course is very scenic as it goes up and down all the way to the airport. At the end it takes runners through the old part of Nuuk with all the colorful houses – awesome!
