There essentially aren’t any other opportunities to cross the Coronado Bridge on foot; pretty cool to be able to run/walk across it! Going from downtown San Diego through Barrio Logan and then to Coronado is very scenic, good challenge to climb on the bridge, and improved organization to get back with the addition of shuttles to the existing ferries

One of my favorite races of the year, especially comparing race views and costs to other races in the area. Getting to run the bridge is such a cool experience and although you get some steepness it’s nothing you can’t push through. I loved the 4 mile distance, made for a decent race that just pushes that 5k mark. The swag was alright, loved the medal (also a favorite from this years races) but the shirt was a typical heavy cotton and just one universal fit.
Now what I would change is the corrals at the beginning were useless. People started walking the bridge that hadn’t registered for the race, before the race begun and it made it really difficult to get past for the first mile or so. Also the ferry back left us on the island for almost two hours in line waiting because the ferry was not continuous and ran its usual schedule. So maybe leave one car on the island before the race if it’s possible for you.
A rare opportunity!

How often do you get to run across the Coronado Bridge? This was an amazing (and frightening) opportunity. The race started a bit late given the weather, and the start line was a bit of a cluster; it would have been nice to be able to separate the runners from the walkers. Now that they have a 10K option, I would love to come back next year!
One-time fun

Flat streets, incline up the bridge, decline down. Chips available for runners who wanted to be timed, but runner start area wasn’t divided by pace or waves. Lots of walkers stopped to take selfies on the bridge. Overcast and windy, sun came out after race. Unclear where ferries were located, I was able to find the bus shuttle area. Medal and shirt claimed by tearing off bib. Celebrated its 30th year.
