I picked this race for my Florida state race as I’ve always wanted to visit Naples. It was overall well organized route through the city of Naples. The course took you through residential areas of Naples and down the Old Town area of Naples. It was really flat. The temp was low 60 but humid. Water stations well organized about every two miles. I stayed in a hotel along the start of the race which was convenient. The packet pick up was really small, just picking up your bib essentially. I would recommend it to anyone looking to fill Florida without a lot of extra production with a race.

This was during Covid times, obviously, and I have to say they made every effort to make it feel like a normal race while keeping everyone safe. It was so much fun to be out there racing and the way the course is set up you see people many times (a lot of out and back that doesn’t feel like out and back), so if you have friends running it’s awesome to feel like you’re doing it together even if you’re at different paces and it’s fun to watch the lead runners when you’re not up there with them! Shirts were top quality, medals well designed. Waiting for the age group award in the mail!

I was scheduled to do this race last year, but had to defer due to injury. (Very easy to defer.) This year we were threatened by a storm front blowing through but it cleared just before the start. Luckily most of the parking was in covered garages very near the start line. The race organizers gave us good advance notice of the possibility of a delay due to lightning but none materialized.
The race course is entirely residential through some posh Naples neighborhoods. Hydration stations (Gatorade and water) and portapotties were plentiful. Several out and back cul-de-sacs allowed you to repeatedly see friends both ahead of and behind you. Photos excellent although not free 🙁

So this review will be short because this race was cancelled. Race directors cannot manage weather but they can manage how they handle it.
I was excited for this race. Florida; January; and 13.1 miles of fun. But unfortunately a huge storm came in; they attempted to postpone the race for an hour or so, and then eventually cancelled it.
I am from PA- so rescheduling it would have been inconvenient, but it would have still given me a choice about what I wanted to do.
My problem with this race isn’t that they canceled, it’s that they didn’t make right. No refunds. I understand they already spent some money on things, but no refunds- seems wrong. They offered us a 15% discount on the following years race. Again, no option to defer until the following year.
The shirts were ok. Nothing special. I would never do this race again just based upon how they handled the situation after they cancelled.
