The annual Museum of Aviation Foundation Marathon, Half-Marathon, 5K Run/Walk, and Para Athletes Race will be held at the Museum of Aviation. The races will be run on Robins Air Force Base next to the Museum of Aviation and are part of the Run & See Georgia Grand Prix Series. The marathon course is USA Track and Field certified (Boston Marathon qualifier). The half marathon is also USA Track and Field certified. Proceeds from the growing annual event benefit the Museum of Aviation, one of the largest education-focused aviation museums in the country.
Kick off the new year with a run on a brisk winter morning. Awards are given to the overall top three male and female finishers in each race, the overall top three male and female masters in each race, the top active duty military male and female in the marathon and the top three finishers in age categories.
Participants who register by December 20th are guaranteed a shirt on race day. Runners registered after this date are not guaranteed a shirt. Marathon and Half Marathon finishers will receive a finisher’s medal.
A virtual option will be offered for those who want to participate but not able to attend the in-person event. Virtual participants will receive a t-shirt and race packet. Marathon and Half Marathon runners will receive a finisher’s medal.
IMPORTANT:
Because the races are run on Robins Air Force Base, all runners are REQUIRED to show a valid ID when picking up race packets. “By providing information required for sign up, you acknowledge and agree to the use of your information for a Criminal Background Check to verify your identity, in accordance with United States Air Force Instruction 31-118, Installation Access and Control, and Robins Air Force Base Instruction 31-101, Installation Defense Plan.”

This is a nice smaller race (71 runners for the full) on the Warner Robins USAF Base. The full marathon is two laps of the base, on open roads. Traffic was minimal on base that morning, so other vehicles weren’t a significant issue. We were able to wait inside one of the museum hangers pre-race, and afterwards as well. The course was flat but not particularly scenic. Though the race was small, it was well-run, and all the volunteers were friendly and enthusiastic. We enjoyed touring the museum after the race.
Overall, a good experience and a recommended race for other runners looking for a smaller race in Georgia!

Well organized, flat course, reasonably scenic if you like Air Force Bases. Southern portion runs by a small lake, nice woods, and some horses, the rest is Air Base. Course is all paved roads with very light traffic. Support/aid stations/post race food were all decent. We had rain and chilly…perfect running weather. Gotta take some time to see the museum.

This was the 25 anniversary Museum of Flight race. It was a well supported and ran event, at the museum attached to Robins Air Force Base. Access to the museum was thru a gate entrance without security, so access was simple. This was a Covid compliant event so that limited interaction with the venue and people – in and out of the museum hangar at packet pick up, no expo. Start was staggered with 2 people taking off every few seconds.
The water stops were well spaced, about every 3 miles, with gatorade, water, bananas and oranges, and goos at some.
The marathon is a double loop course around the runways. The scenery was interesting enough to me, always something to look at on a military base. My watch had elevation gain at 410 ft without a hill, just inclines.
Winter weather can vary, this year it was 43 degrees and wet but the rain that was forecast never really showed up, just an occasional drizzle.
Nice long sleeve shirt that was non race specific (there was a marathon, half, and 5k) and a neat medal. Pizza at the end for runners.
There were 103 marathon finishers so it is a smaller race, after 25 years they sure seem to have it down. I enjoyed myself, I was very glad the museum foundation put it on.
