The event kicks off on Saturday afternoon on 6th Street and Main Street at the Clark’s Nutrition Health & Fitness Expo offering pre-registration, packet pick-up, live demonstrations, and vendor booths.

The Mission Inn Run is a premier event for the Riverside community and Southern California region. The Mission Inn Run was started by community volunteers to benefit the nonprofit Mission Inn Foundation, and continues to be a labor of love for the community, the Mission Inn Foundation and the Mission Inn Museum. The Mission Inn Run is one of those races I look forward to every year. I’ve participated every year since 2012 – whether its the 5k, 10k, or 1/2 marathon. The 10k route is my favorite of the three. I love that the course takes you through some of the historic neighborhoods of Riverside. The 10k isn’t too difficult, there are a few hills but the majority of the course is very much enjoyable. I love how the community comes together for this well organized race. The camaraderie of the other runners is fantastic! The only negative aspect of this race is there aren’t any good options for parking (arrive early – very early!) My performance this year went much better than I had expected. I had an extremely busy weekend, but didn’t want to miss out on the race. I figured I would just take it easy and enjoy the run. After the first mile I was running faster than expected and decided to push myself for the rest of the race and I ended up placing 1st for my age group! A complete surprise and a great way to end a busy weekend.

The Mission Inn Run is a race I look forward to participating in every year. Its always well organized and great for the entire community to participate. I love that the fire department participates as well and listening to their cadence while running is enthusiastic! The 10k course has a few hills and is slightly challenging. The course takes you through Fairmont park and some of the older/original neighborhoods. The scenery is enjoyable the entire race. Lots of vendors at the end of the race – plus the downtown Riverside area is a great place to hang around afterwards as well.

This is another race I make sure to run every year. I love the community involvement. The race goes through some nice neighborhoods – part of the race is out & back along the bike path, which can get a bit boring. Post race has lots of activities for participants & spectators.

For the price you pay for this run, it is worth it. Pay any more, and it may be debatable. The scenery is OK. I’ve seen worse and I’ve seen better. Three-quarters of the race is running through the small downtown area of Riverside. Not so much “mission” seeing. But, there is about a quarter of the run where you run along the backside of a hill and see nice scenery of the valley. The weather was warm/hot, but manageable at a slower pace. They include a nice tech t-shirt.
