So I was torn here. Did I have fun? Absolutely. Do I wish they’d played the national anthem like literally every other race here? Absolutely. Do I wish there was any kind of announcement before “Okay we’re starting”? Yeah probably. Do I wish the water at the aid station at the turn around on this three-legged out and back wasn’t well above room temperature and probably closer to 80 degrees? Sure do. What got me most was that the medal shown on the website was way cooler than the one we got last night. The tshirt wasn’t the softest thing in the world, but maybe it’ll soften up in the wash for someone so inclined to try.
All that said, I had fun. The people on the course were motivated, and it’s always nice to do a new course as opposed to the same recycled ones over and over. Will I go back? Probably. Will I go back every year or even next year? Probably not. If you haven’t ever done it though, it’s a good strong check the box race.
