The Marine Corps Half Marathon is steeped in history and tradition. The Marine Corps Half Marathon provides runners the honor of running aboard the majestic Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune. Runners will experience a flat scenic course beginning at the Wallace Creek Fitness Center. Along the course, runners will take a personal “tour” of the base, passing notable sites such as the beautiful waters of the New River, Morgan Bay, and Farnell Bay; the Paradise Point Golf Course where the Heroes Mile will be on display; and neighborhood communities before completing their journey back at Wallace Creek Fitness Center. This course is not USATF certified. Participants will be given 4 hours to complete the race and must be 14 years or older to register. This race is open to the public.

This is a challenging race as it’s in mid-September which means humidity and heat. The course is relatively flat and scenic as you run through Camp Lejeune Marine Corps base. The memorial mile honoring fallen Marines is always moving. Definitely recommend this race. This was my second time running this one and it is still my PR race for half marathon distance.

This race has a great flat course for a PR. Race support is sparse on the base but the families and spectators that do come out are wonderful. The race has a patriotic atmosphere. There is a blue mile with photos of fallen heroes, it is a beautiful way to reflect on all we have to be grateful for. The post race food and refreshments (beer, etc.) are great. Packet pickup, race day parking and all logistics of the race are simple and well organized. This is a great race to add to your list if you love the military races!
