Are you ready to race the Magic City? You’re invited to join one of the premier half marathon events in the South. This 13.1 mile / 5K / 1 mile event is the second largest half marathon event in Alabama and the state’s most iconic fall running event. Welcome to Birmingham and we can’t wait to see you at Regions Field this November for the annual Magic City Half Marathon & 5K.
This event weekend has been the fastest growing half marathon and 5K in the South! And with perfect running conditions and tons of excitement on and off the courses, we expect our biggest event ever in 2023! As and added bonus the 2023 event will offer a two person relay option and a fast, relatively flat 26.2 mile option for those looking to get a PR or BQ time!
Events benefit the Ruben Studdard Foundation for the Advancement of Children in the Music Arts and Girls on the Run of Birmingham.
The Magic City Half Marathon Weekend features an amazing finish behind home plate at Regions Field, post-race beer on the concourse, one of the coolest finisher medals you will find, and of course a fantastic run in the heart of Birmingham.
All running events will take place in Downtown Birmingham around Regions Field – home of the Birmingham Barons.

I was looking for a race to check Alabama off and picked this one. Overall it was just ok. Packet pick up was easy but nothing in terms of swag. Was confused as a half marathon running you received a regular short sleeve tshirt though they were selling long sleeve tech shirts afterwards. There was no other swag. The course was on some pretty beat up roads that were hard in your feet and back. There is a giant hill around mile 10. You did get to finish on a baseball field which was cool. The course does not go by the civil rights institute or 16th street Baptist church which I was surprised being so iconic. This is a course you do 2 laps of so the parts you like and don’t like you get to see again.
There was no much in terms of post race celebration or food-just some cheezits, cookies and a tap of beer.

Packet pick up was pretty sloppy but other than that this was a great experience. There’s a good chance we’ll do this race again
