Marathon in Luxembourg – it is far more than just running. It is a short vacation during a long weekend, it is culture and shopping, it is Samba festival and fair at the same time. Luxembourg is one of the most beautiful European capitals, small and exquisite with a pinch of extravagance. Here, a historic town centre grown on steep sandstone rocks, there, a modern and vivid banking and financial centre on top of the Kirchberg. The ING Night Marathon Luxembourg forges links between the different parts of town, between sports and culture, between the more than 100 nationalities living in town. Become part of this great running movement in the small Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Celebrate with us in the small alleys of the town centre, in the elegant philharmonic building.
The proven motto will be kept up for this edition: quality rules quantity. As the number of participants is limited to 17,000 runners, register now and make sure you will be a part of the ING Night Marathon Luxembourg!
Decide on the day whether to run the marathon or half marathon – even during the race!

Luxemburg Marathon is a big party! The event consists of full marathon, half marathon and different team runs. It´s a night run that starts at 7pm. Nice expo and everything is very well organized. Spectators get orange hats and rattles to make noise with. Start and finish is at the LuxExpo which is about 5 km outside the city centre. The course takes runners from there to the city centre and back. The atmosphere is fantastic! Many people and a lot of DJs at the course and they really know how to cheer. Weather was sunny and hot – definitely a bit too hot with temperatures close to 30 degrees celsius. Finish is in the expo hall which is almost as spectacular as the famous finish of Frankfurt Marathon. All in all a super nice race!

This was my first Half Marathon and a really great experience. The race is run at night (as the title now has been changed to indicate) and goes through the city of Luxembourg. It’s a really big production in a really small country.
The sights are great. The spectator support is also wonderful. Lots of locals out cheering on the streets.
The course wasn’t that difficult. But there was a pretty murderous hill at about mile 11 that really gave me a hard time. Otherwise, it was an excellent course.
The swag was pretty mediocre though. The medal was fine, but certainly not one of my more memorable ones. Also the finishers shirt isn’t one of the better ones I’ve seen.
But who cares about the swag? Running through a European capital at night with people cheering for me around every other corner was such a surreal experience.
I would absolutely love to run this race again if I ever got the chance.
