combined with driving, freezing rain & wind that could tip over cows, well, it is a character builder! I tossed out any race plan & pulled up my big boy shorts & ran. Tucked in behind runners to survive. Very hilly course. Small race production. Didn’t realize IOWA, of all places could be so hilly.
Course is long, swag is next to none

I live along this course, and run these routes all of the time. That being said, it’s super hot, on blacktop with no tree cover. Aid stations were sparse. You will encounter a lot of headwinds. Start slow, you’re going to need the energy left in the tank. The course is long, the swag is next to none. You’re doing this race for the cause, because you’re local or for a good workout.
