The EXPO 10K/5K is more than a race: It’s Knoxville’s oldest and most beloved community running event. The expo is truly a tradition. It is the only local race that celebrates the family by having mother/son, mother/daughter, father/son, father/daughter, wife/husband, and three generations categories.
Unable to attend race day or would be more comfortable running on your own? We are still offering the virtual option. You may sign up to support the club and this event and run 5k or 10k anywhere you would like.
This year we will kick off with a kids mile run at 7:00am, while the 5k and 10k begin at 7:30am. Please note: start times are subject to change.
Course Description and Highlights
Course starts in front of Crafty Bastard on Central Avenue, turns right on Magnolia, turns left on Gay Street, turns left on Jackson, then right onto Central again. Then follow Central down to Neyland Drive to the turnaround and follow the same route back for an-out and-back course. Both courses follow same route, the 10k simply goes further out Neyland.
Course Time Limits
Participants must be able to finish the 10K in one hour and forty minutes after the last runner starts. 10K course closes at 9:15.
Post Race
Light refreshments will be provided, and Crafty Bastard will be open for a post-race drink.

This was the 44th edition of the Expo, put on by the Knoxville Track Club, it is Knoxville’s longest continuous running event. There are around 10 streakers who have run all 44 and we were lucky enough to run and talk with one for a while – so interesting to hear.
There were 400+ runners total in the 5 and 10Ks, which started together in an area of old city Knoxville. The out & back course wound thru the eastern side of the old city, down to the Tennessee River. The weather was perfect, dramatic overcast and 60 degrees. The production was typical KTC top level. The swag was a shirt and $1 off at Craft Brewing at the start/finish. My watch had 266 ft of elevation gain, so no real hills, just elevation changes to and from the river. We ran this last fall in it’s Covid delayed edition on the Karns course and half a year later was not too soon, I hope I get to run it again next year.
