Swim
The point-to-point swim in the Tennessee River will start 2.4 miles upstream of transition. Athletes will enter the water from a dock in a rolling start. Spectators will have a great opportunity to watch the entire swim as they walk along side the swimmers on the Chattanooga Riverwalk. Athletes will exit the water at the beautiful Ross’s Landing Park. You can expect a fast swim split, as all but the final stretch between the red turn buoy and Ross’s Landing Park is with the current. Water temperatures in the mid 70’s will make wetsuits a race-time decision, so be prepared for both.
Bike
Athletes will experience more of Southeastern Tennessee than ever before while on their IRONMAN journey throughout the region.
Once out of the water, athletes will exit transition on Riverfront Parkway and head south to Martin Luther King Boulevard and on to US-27. Athletes will then head north through Red Bank and up to Soddy Daisy. Athletes will complete three loops on US-27 before heading back toward Chattanooga.
The new bike course will offer a dedicated lane throughout the entire course, with great views and fresh pavement as athletes parallel the Cumberland Plateau during the ride. The new course will consist of 4,300 feet of elevation gain across 112-miles.
Run
Athletes will have a chance to see the Scenic City as they complete two loops through downtown Chattanooga, The Tennessee Riverwalk, Veterans Bridge, North Shore, and the beautiful Riverfront Parkway. The final stretch will bring athletes down Riverfront Parkway towards a spectacular finish at Ross’s Landing along the Tennessee River.

So I did the IMCHOO RELAY… This is more than likely my last IMCHOO Relay as my company {McKee Foods} sponsored my team. This run was my 2nd time, I have ran a lot of races here in Chattanooga but this is the best race course! I love when I make it to Barton {Northshore area} so much crowd support over that way, the people engage with you and I live[race] for that. So fun!
I love when I get close by and can hear names of people becoming an Ironman. It’s awesome!

I was on a relay team. My biker at mile 8 had a fight with two water bottles that fell from a biker in front of him and he lost!! Scraped up and messed up gear shift, he made it 102 miles where he just couldn’t walk the hills anymore (stuck in high gear). We sadly didn’t complete our mission. Until next year…
Very hilly course
The course is very hilly and tons of rolling hills, some roads when you hit mile 60, 70 and some at 80 miles are very bumpy roads with large dips. MORE
