This was my first go at a long distance trail race (I had done Ragnar Trail in Michigan, but this was gonna be my longest). The course was definitely difficult – only a bit of single track, so not what I would call ‘technical’ (if single track for runners can be considered technical), but it was hilly and sometimes sandy – including the darn power line section 🙂 – overall, it was a fantastic race. The organizers were extremely nice, the race was VERY well organized (shuttle to the start line a mile away was well appreciated and the aid stations were great), the course was well marked, and the scenery was magnificent (I only wish it were a couple weeks later for the peak of fall foliage, but beggars can’t be choosers). Overall, a great race, run by great people. I can easily see doing this one again, and should I decide to venture in ‘ultra’ territory, this one will be at the top of my list for first ultras. And the ‘medal’ (a chunk of wood with a brand of the race logo) is my favorite!!!
