The race is a double loop on roads and very poorly maintained sidewalks. Unfortunately, one is not exposed to the beauty of Hilton Head in this race. I felt like I was on a trail run in many spots. Aid stations were well spaced, and volunteers were supportive. My favorite support signs were spotted in this race.
Packet pickup is low-key. This is a small, locally supported race—the type that I usually love.
However, this is my least favorite half, and I have no desire to run it again.

This was an out and back x2 to get to 13.1 miles. It was really tough to run by the finish line. Running on the beach, although hard packed, was still tough. I did this a part of “Another Mother Runner” retreat. It was a great retreat and met some amazing women. Hilton head is a fun place to visit!

Flat. By colignybeach and sea pines.
Low key. Not a lot of runners.
Not a lot of fluff, just enough to get started and finish smoothly.
Lots of water stations.
Not a lot of traffic so roads not being closed wasn’t an issue. The volunteers and police did a good job making sure we were safe.
It starts at the kids park, so great for families as they wait. We also pass the park a few times so gives many opportunities for cheering without having to go to a special area.
Only thing i didn’t like but wasn’t a big deal is that they did small water bottles at the stations and didn’t open them, so when you’re cold and have gloves on, it’s not a quick sip, throw and go.
Would definitely do it again! The director seemed very nice.
