Flat. By colignybeach and sea pines.
Low key. Not a lot of runners.
Not a lot of fluff, just enough to get started and finish smoothly.
Lots of water stations.
Not a lot of traffic so roads not being closed wasn’t an issue. The volunteers and police did a good job making sure we were safe.
It starts at the kids park, so great for families as they wait. We also pass the park a few times so gives many opportunities for cheering without having to go to a special area.
Only thing i didn’t like but wasn’t a big deal is that they did small water bottles at the stations and didn’t open them, so when you’re cold and have gloves on, it’s not a quick sip, throw and go.
Would definitely do it again! The director seemed very nice.

First time doing this race but not a first time runner.
I did not look at the course presign up by choice – the hills killed my legs but I survived. The prerace music and atmosphere was fine. It was great that the parking deck was close so easy to get back to your car. The music and dj was great. Plenty of water stations. No pacers. Barely any gu — only saw 1 station where a water person had 2 in her hand, fortunately i brought my own. I did hate that the hills were never end– literally throughout the whole race were rolling hills. Shirt was great. Medal was fine. I didn’t stay post the race or look for food. I got the water and left so I have no idea what they had available. Overall, Im glad I did it and don’t regret it.
Oh- packet pickup was a bit annoying but I’ve given my feedback to them. The instructions said down under on tobacco campus. But if you don’t go there, you’d never know what they meant by down under. There were a few of us that walked way further than needed looking for a sign that said down under. They should’ve just said what store they were in front of.

My first time doing this race. Overall it was a good race. The website provides a lot of information. The production was good. Not one of my best races. The incline at mile 11.5 was a slow incline to 13. It was rough. I stayed around 9 pace most of the race and by mile 11.5, the incline started and my last mile clocked at 11.02. It does say a downhill finish but it’s the .1 of 13.1. LOL! Overall, the course was okay. The greenways had many openings where you didn’t feel like in a greenway bubble for 13 miles.

The medal is nice. The shirt fit is good. The after race food were bananas and panera bread bagels. Parking was sufficient. Plenty of portapotty’s and close to a Starbucks.

I’ve done this race 3 times because I love the scenery. It’s a very simple race. Paid $25 i think for the 7 miler. No medals or food though. The race is not crowded. The long sleeve shirts are great! They’re my go to running shirts when it’s cold. The volunteers and those running it are really nice. The course is not 7 miles though, closer to 6.75. There’s a hill on mile 2 and 7. The hill on mile 7 is a killer. But despite of it, I keep coming back.

In summary:
Nice scenery.
No medals/food.
Cheap.
Not crowded.
Long walk from parking- but there’s shuttles.
Mile 7 hill will eat you alive.

Great cause! DIPG (children’s brain cancer) affects many children and survival range is 8-11months. There’s been little progress in improving treatment. This race supports DIPG research and named after a girl named Ella who passed away from this awful cancer!

The neighborhood is really nice. The course is a roller coaster. First mile is mostly downhill, but that only meant the last mile was uphill. I don’t think there was much flat area on the course, if there was, I didn’t remember it because it was mostly hills. Course was properly marked, exactly 6.2 (maybe 6.25). No medals. Race is really geared towards awareness towards DIPG and trying to keep cost down on production and profits to go towards the research for this cancer.

Chick Fil A across from the starting point helps sponsor this race so many there were many cow’s around 🙂 . Great race for kids. Very family oriented.

Hilton Head is a BEAUTIFUL town. This run route doesnt allow you to see that beauty. Most of it is on the highway. The bridge was harder than I thought. The winds were high when we ran so I had to hold my ears and close my eyes partially when I was running/jogging/walking up the bridge because the winds were heavy. No ‘gu’ at the water stations. Mostly flat outside of the bridge. I had no issues during the race. The last 3 miles were difficult because the highway seemed to never end. I had a hard time speeding up because it just seemed the end wasn’t in site. Not as many runners as other races so that was kind of nice. The race area was narrow and just right. It’s the first race I’ve been on where it clocked dead on 13.1. I’d attribute it to the fact that since it wasn’t as many runners and running area was contained in a narrow space that we didn’t end up zig zagging too much, which adds to the distance.
The ending was nice. Last .3 was back in the park and it made it a nice change from the never ending highway.
Medal and long sleeve shirt were made of good material.

I’ve done this race a few times, mostly the 5k and once the half marathon and decided to do the 10k this time. It’s pretty much all the same as it results to course— nice neighborhood with lots of up and down (hills). I’ve never had an issue with their production or organization in the last 4 years, they do a good job. The kids run is really good for the little’s. Last year they upgraded their medals and the kids really liked it (probably .20-.25 in distance). Very family oriented.
Overall their medals are really nice and very colorful and fitting for Thanksgiving. This race also has a great cause! I intend to do it yearly.
(Oh– they even have Santa Claus– so great time to get your Santa pics in for free, although he tends to be late.)

Race was on 11/17/18. LOTS of people. Fortunate to stayed at the Elara which was next to where the half and full marathoners started, so I didn’t have to deal with the chaos of walking long distance or getting on tram. (I’d highly recommend trying to stay near or on Harmon). Given the race is late afternoon, the benefit is that it’s too dark to see the long stretch that you have to run on that can be defeating if you saw it in the day time. There was alot of zig zagging because of the amount of runners which did add to my mileage. The first 9 miles were a slow down hill, which was awesome, but last 4 meant coming back up, although still relatively flat. I think it’s a good course to try to PR in (although many may disagree).

The hills seemed long. What goes down, must come back up! I struggled on this race. Scenery was nice. Umstead park, so in the woods. If you like woods and hills, this is the race for you. It’s a smaller race so there were only 5(maybe 4) porta potties and medals were made of light wood. I don’t think I’d do this race again.

My 2nd half marathon and didn’t know what to really expect. I unexpectedly had a personal record. I also did the 5k the day before so I could get all the medals.
I was able to get through entire course without stopping, even with the bridge. The course was mostly highway. There were ALOT of runners so it made it easier not to get caught up on looking ahead at the long highway. The last half mile was a little annoying because it seemed like you were at the end but then found that you had a few more turns that you weren’t prepared for. The start and ending are on two different places so it required for you to take shuttle or have someone get you from the other side. Overall I enjoyed the races and I thought the production team did a good job. It was well organized.

Oh man– this is like no other compared to other races. It’s not just a trail race, it really is a mountain run. The first half mile is straight up hill (high) and just continues on slowly going up the next 2 miles. There are areas where it was narrow so you definitely needed to watch your step but the views were spectacular. Getting there was a bit difficult because there’s barely any signal so I got nervous at first when trying to find the place because it was early, dark and I had no reception. The start is right next to the beach at the parking lot.

I’d do this run again, not for speed, but purely because it’s different.
