What is The Halloween Half Marathon? Just the most fun you can have at a half marathon and 5K! This Halloween themed half marathon and 5K will get you pumped for the holiday and give you a chance to try your most ghoulish moves out on the course.
Starting at Bootleg Canyon trailhead, runners head down Canyon Road and jump on River Mountains Loop Trail about 1/4 mile in. Runners stay on River Mountains Loop Trail all the way to Henderson, where they join UPRR Trail for the rest of the run finishing a Fiesta Henderson Hotel & Casino.
Who? You! Friends! Family! Mythical Creatures! (Actually no, scratch that. Please don’t bring Pegasus or any other creature for that matter…) You can totally dress like one if you like though. Wear those wings and horns with pride! If you like a challenge! If you like to laugh! If you like to have fun! Then this fun run is for you! There is a 5K and half marathon option, so this one is great for all fitness levels.
Why? Better question would be “Why Not?” You and your family and friends deserve a day of fun. What better way to do that than dressing up in your favorite running costume, running or walking along West Fork Trinity River, and hanging out afterwards for lunch and music? Where else can you get exercise and be challenged, all while you having the time of your life?

Start at the beginning….
Race is in Henderson about 20 miles southwest of Vegas.
Package pick up was at the start / finish hotel so required day before drive to Henderson to pick up bib. They have day of pick up but discourage it.
Race day – race starts at 7 out in the mountains of Nevada so you have to take a shuttle out to the start line and run 13 miles back in. Shuttles start at 5 am so it was an early morning.
The start – really nice start out in a park in the mountains. First 6 miles are hilly. First mile all downhill, second mile all uphill then rolling hills for 4 miles. Once you hit mile six the course is flat all the way to the finish. The course is run completely on refurbished rail road line and bike path. Scenic and nice.
The finish medal is the biggest half medal I have ever seen. Obnoxiously big. Nice cotton t shirt no running shirt.
Rest stops were well manned and frequent enough.
So all in all a good half to do if you are in the neighborhood.
