The course is great and presents a good challenge – it follows the river and the weather was a little chilly – not warm enough to go without my knee tights. I ran the “10” mile route, which it came up a little short per my GPS and several others. I don’t believe the course was USATF-certified, which is fine for the 98%+ of runners. The course finishes in the stadium, which is cool. After you’ve done through the finish line, you go up into the seating to exit and find the post-race food and snacks. The 10mi started after the 5k, which I only mention since the port-a-johns will free up quickly – there were not as many runners in the 10mi and it was a very short wait after the 5k started (10minutes in between events). This was the best local race option that weekend, I might do it again in the future.

I have always enjoyed this race along the Mississippi River and thru the U of M campus and especially ending at the stadium, running onto the field is so much fun and energizing. Production is great, liked the shirt and the medal and lots of snacks at the end. The course is difficult and I always forget the toughest hill is in the last mile or so. Talk about killer, but when you accomplish it and no the stadium is not much further it feels great.

This was a fun race – repeat runner but this year I did the relay. My time listed is for my 5 miles. I did the last half and it is so much fun running into TCF stadium. The swag is great, snacks at the end and all of the celebrating. My little 5 year old nephew came as well and participated in the Kids Run, his first race and now he is hooked! He had so much fun running around the outside of the stadium and then on to the field to receive his medal! One complaint though about the kids, the shirt sizes a small swallowed up him up whole! What do the littler kids do? Have kids sizes please!
One of the biggest 5ks in the state!

I ran this race twice – 2017 and 18 – but am
only reviewing once. I ran the 5k both years. In 2017 I broke 20:00 for the first time and was EXTREMELY happy (plus a little surprised) that I did so. I didn’t have a gps watch at the time but have since heard the course was likely short. In 2018 I had a watch and it was accurate, I also ran 2 seconds slower despite thinking I was for sure in better shape! Weather is hit or miss (was ~50 one year and 20’s the next). Running into the stadium at the end is the best part!!! I loved it. I don’t run for medals but everyone gets a nice big medal, and the long sleeve shirts were cool. The course is mostly flat and imo a little boring (but not the race organizers fault). Mainly you run down university, across a bridge and back and around the u of m campus a bit. There are LOTS of runners, so there’s always someone to run with / try to catch! I’d do it again but I feel the entry fee has increased to a beyond reasonable amount, and I’m cheap. 🤷♂️🤣
