EVENT ON HIATUS. From race website: “Please note that there will not be a Gansett Half in 2019. The Narragansett Running Club is transitioning to a new roster of Club officers, and we’re taking a hiatus from hosting any events in 2019. The new group of officers will work with the club to decide what events we’ll put on going forward, so stay tuned to the Gansett Half site and Facebook page for future updates. Thank you for running with us, and hopefully our paths will cross again in the future. Happy running to you all!”

The Gansett Half Marathon is put on by runners, for runners, and is one of the most scenic half marathons in which a runner might compete. The superb course was thoughtfully designed with the athlete in mind, and showcases some of the best of Narragansett: beautiful beaches, ocean views, the Point Judith Lighthouse, and the famous Narragansett Towers (which the runners pass under twice).
A morning start in late October makes ideal temperatures likely, and runners will find the course generally flat and fast, which makes the Gansett Marathon an ideal “PR” race. Both miles and half miles will be marked. Runners will pass fluid stations six times and energy gels will be available after mile 7. Both water and electrolyte drink will be available at each station. Runners will generally stay to the right (moving with traffic), unless otherwise directed. The time limit is three hours and fifteen minutes. If a runner cannot finish in three hours and fifteen minutes, then they may complete the course, but they may not receive an official time or a finisher’s medal.

From the start, the ocean is to your left for a mile or two. Then the course breaks to the right and you’re running under foliage until you hit a main road for a little while. Back to the beach road, and up to a light house point, turn around and run along the ocean to your right the rest of the way!
