The Front Porches Half Marathon will take place in Rockingham and showcase our scenic river views and historic front porches. Runners will begin in Bellows Falls, run to the Village of Saxtons River and through Vermont Academy’s campus, ending at the Waypoint Center in Bellows Falls where they can celebrate their finishes with friends and family. We will be providing food, drinks and entertainment before and during the award ceremony. We hope to continue this annual event, drawing Vermont runners and out of state runners alike to embrace and explore our community at the height of its Fall glory, year after year.
Our goal is to raise money to benefit local drug prevention efforts, with priority for those programs designed to target juvenile health and wellness education, raising awareness of the risks of drug use. Our hope is that this event will become an opportunity for all of us to come together to raise money to help combat the problems facing our community that are caused by drugs.

Small race on open roads which included running towards or besides cars, trucks, full size bus, dozen motorcycles. Course was pretty well marked with purple stickers on the road. There were course Marshall’s at about half the turns and small but well manned water / Gatorade stops. The course has mile markers but no splits. You ran through a small downtown, near a river with trees, through a park and through a wooden covered bridge. Post race had vegetarian and meat chili, corn bread water and banana. Beer was available for purchase and the proceeds went towards a local charity. The registration included a long sleeve cotton t-shirt that fit well and had a nice design on it. The medal was very pretty design on a silver colored medal. Everyone involved with the race was very supportive and friendly. There were also good quality free photos of the finish line emailed hours after the race.

It’s a small race, with a small hometown feel. The wx was chilly & rainy & since I was running another half the following day I took it easy. Ran a comfortable pace & stopped and talked with the locals. I’m sure it’s pretty when the sun is out. The fall colors were late too. Good course support, but you do run on a very busy state hiway for a good part of the race.
