How do you make a 5k unique and special? Well Orca Running achieved that by partnering with The Museum of Flight to be able to host a race where runners start off running through the museum’s outdoor exhibit of iconic aircraft. Then it’s out to the road for the bulk of the distance. But that’s nothing to sneeze at either! Depending on the weather and Boeing’s inventory you may get to run past Boeing aircraft waiting to be delivered to their airlines, and after the first U-turn you may have views of Mount Rainier. Then it’s a race to the finish back amongst those icons of aviation!

How do you make a 5k unique and special? Well Orca Running achieved that by partnering with The Museum of Flight to be able to host a race where runners start off running through the museum’s outdoor exhibit of iconic aircraft. The actual run there isn’t much to it, but once you finish the venue hosting the event allows you to show your bib and you get free entry into the museum, which is world class. The start and finish of the race is in the Bone Yard of the museum, alongside some of the biggest and most historic planes to of ever been produced. Really makes up for the rest of the course basically being along the runway of Boeing Field.

This race was highly organized by the Orca Running Team! The course was beautiful as we started and finished running though historically famous aircraft at the Museum of Flight! The rest of the course is fast, flat, and family friendly as the course is closed off to traffic! After the race you get the best finisher medal on earth and free entry to enjoy a full day of family fun!

This was a great place for a 5k, the course was flat and awesome, alot of goodies given out (the donuts were the best!) Love the medal, that was my favorite medal to this date (and i have over 100 medals) very friendly volunteers and organizers. I will definitely be back next time!

Fun race with admission to the museum as a perk! The course was really easy, but it was well marked and nicely laid out. Only real concern is that the active road was not marked off. There was some guy yelling at people halfway through. This could have gone a little better.

As I’ve never done a real 5K before, this was a new experience to me. Everybody was awesome and I had a great time. When I couldn’t run any more and started to walk, I received positive motivational comments from other runners. There were even water and snack stations for after the race. The closest thing to a “complaint” that I could make would be to say that because I’m starting to do runs as a way to help me lose weight, I was surprised to see stuff like doughnut holes at the food/snack station, but I still was grateful to get it either way. High praise from me for this and I’ll be signing up to do it again next year!

This is an out and back course on pavement. It starts out inside the Museum of Flight, cool stuff to look at and a way to stay warm. Coffee truck and free grilled cheese sandwiches were available on site. So many nice, clean and line free porta potties (long lines for indoor bathroom). Baggage check available, but do bring your own bag. Close parking in lots, but would have been nice to know that many of the lots were on the course and you would not be able to leave until the race is over which is quite a bit after most 5kers finish. The kids race was adorable. The course was well marked. The airplane medals were cool. The shirts are techish. I’d do it again and have already been raving to my running friends.
