It’s time to celebrate Women’s History Month! Hosted by the DC Department of Parks and Recreation and inspired by Mayor Muriel Bowser and the incredible women who’ve shaped our city and country, the FITDC HerStory 5K, powered by AETNA, is the ultimate free run/walk event. Every year, thousands of DC locals and visitors come together at Freedom Plaza to honor women’s achievements and yes, it’s totally stroller and dog friendly as long as our fur friends are on a leash, so feel free to bring the whole squad!
We’re here to recognize the 350,000 amazing women and girls right here in DC and the 168 million women and girls across the nation who make history every day.
Get ready for a lively celebration in downtown DC, starting with a pre-race program with speakers, including Mayor Bowser, a beautiful route down Pennsylvania Avenue, displays showcasing inspiring stories and quotes from trailblazing women, interactive exhibits highlighting women’s history, and a post-race festival with music, giveaways, and vendors from local women-owned businesses.
