    This was my first ever marathon. If you are relatively new to marathons the 1.5% grade SOUNDS like it wouldn’t be to bad. However, it was relentless and that 13.1 miles back was grueling for me. If you’re an experienced road marathoner the dirt road was very well maintained and compact so that shouldn’t be an issue, it wasn’t for me. If you’re an experienced TRAIL marathoner, the dirt road has no rocks or technical aspects to it beyond having to turn on your headlamp in the tunnels.

    That said, it was amazing, a beautiful course with great views even on the cloudy slightly damp day we had. You can see my struggle bus journey at the link below. Will do it again…..someday 🙂
