With 2 days of running, make it a family weekend! The Echo Valley Trail Run is a premier Evergreen Trail Run and definitely not one to miss! It’s so good you might even want to run it every year! No matter the distance you choose, you’ll enjoy endless views towards Lake Chelan and a landscape painted purple and yellow with fields of lupine and balsam root. The winding, nicely graded trails go on endlessly through the ponderosa pine forests.
Make it a weekend in the pristine wine country of Lake Chelan and enjoy a retreat from everyday life while you enjoy the sunshine!
To top off this weekend in the mountains, you can camp pre- and post-race. Take this time to reboot, decompress from technology, and reflect on the amazing training you have done. Come and share an amazing weekend with us; we promise you will head back to work Monday full of heart and strength of mind! See below for details on accommodations.
There will be a 1-mile kids’ race, 10K, half-marathon, and 50K (Saturday only). Echo Valley has an event for everyone. The 1-mile kids’ race, camping, and location make it ideal for families, while the 50K is a great course for a first-time 50K runner or someone wanting to set a 50K PR time.
From the base of Echo Valley ski area all distances will start down the main road and then shortly take a left onto the climbing single track. While the grade is gentle the climb is long and sustained. After the initial long climb, you are rewarded with those amazing views of the Chelan Valley and some gentle rolling single track. The 10k then begins its descent back down to the Echo Valley ski area on the Bergman Gulch Trail. Meanwhile, the Half and 50k runners continue on trails that wind through the beautiful ponderosa pine forest and lupine fields for miles. The Half course is an abbreviated portion of the 50K course. This course is so much fun that you might not be ready to be done, as both the Half and the 50K make the final descent down Waterbar Heaven. And you’re in luck, because there is one last small climb up before finally arriving back at the Finish line.

The course layout was clearly marked, the aid stations were well spread out, and the elevation profile of the half marathon route was very enjoyable! It was 90F out, but there was enough light breeze to make it tolerable. Very fun!

I’ve done lots of aid station volunteering in my injured eras, and this was one of the best! Everything was extremely well organized, and we had more than enough supplies for all runners. I was signed up to run the half marathon but unfortunately I’m a heat wimp so I just ended up volunteering. 🙁 Wish I could’ve seen the entire course – the views I did catch were unforgettable. The heat and lack of shade seemed to deeply affect many 50k runners, with more people reporting nausea than I think I’ve ever seen at an ultra aid station. Stay hydrated out there!

The team at Evergreen Trail Runs are dedicated professionals who consistently put on multiple simultaneous races with Swiss precision. But they are not just all business: I overheard so many people share that this was a life-changing event for them. The camaraderie, dedication to perfection and passion of Katie’s team is something that must be experienced in order to appreciate it. This was my third year at Echo Valley and it is already on next year’s calendar.

Beautiful course. Perfect amount of challenge. Initial ascent was intimidating based on elevation profile but ended up being more gradual and runnable than predicted. Aid stations were well placed with the exception of the 10 mile gap between 13-23. Very well marked course. Views were beautiful.

This is a great trail run. Be prepared for a lot of uphill in the first 3 miles. It can take a toll on you with the heat and elevation if you don’t prepare properly. Bringing water is highly recommended. This was my first 10k and I am so excited to do it again next year.

This was a very well done race. A beautiful time of year in the Chelan hills. It was my first trail race ever and it was pretty brutal. But also super fun. First part of the race was the most difficult but it got better after that. If I’m in shape for it next year I will do it again.
A Must-Do Race!

This was my first 50k distance and it was perfect! A little wetter than expected (previous years showed heaps on sunshine), but the scenery was still great and all the aid station volunteers, etc. were so helpful! Everything is runnable (single track / wide roads) – the first 2.5-3 miles are where you’ll gain the most vert, and miles 23ish-25ish are a close second (not too steep), but the rest is gradual / “rolling” little hills with a good amount of downhill. Great way to dip your toes into ultras (or even trail running in general). Hoping to come back next year and complete this race again (and in the sunshine)!

The course is absolutely beautiful, downright magical at times! Terrain and elevation are manageable, mostly rolling ups and down, even on sections that primarily climb, so you never feel like you are chugging up the side of a mountain. All the volunteers on the course were friendly, happy and helpful, one even let me use his personal sunscreen from his car. Despite the course basically looking like someone took spaghetti and dropped it on the ground, everything was extremely well marked, no room for confusion, which is so appreciated when you are on mile 23 and your brain is fried! I wish that the location/number of aid stations was more clearly communicated though, according to the pre-race emails and website, I was expecting there to be a few water-only aid stations, which there were not. Thankfully a volunteer told me this otherwise I would have run out of water on a particularly long and hot stretch of trail. Overall a great race though!

This race was amazing. The gradual uphill for the first half was just gradual enough to keep running for most of it and then when you hit the aid station and started going downhill, it was a blast, of course! The worst part of this whole race was the last mile because you can see the finish line and then the trail sends you the opposite direction uphill for awhile until you finally come back. Total psych out. But so so fun! Ill be back with others next year for sure

This race will bite you if you aren’t used to the heat and running consistently on trail runs. There’s also a little loop at the end just when you think you’re finished…ooof! The views are spectacular, the downhill is so fun and you can totally bomb it. Chelan is gorgeous! Atmosphere is super-inviting. This was my third year doing this race and I always have a blast.
