I ran my last trail run in India in 2013. 10 years and a few road half-marathons later, on this trail, I felt like I was born yesterday. Nature showed up in profound ways in the 21kms of woods, springs, and uncharted territories. And I had to find humility to finish the run that tested the different principles of Chi Running that I had followed in my road runs. I hope to remaster those Chi Running skills, return to this trail someday, and run without running out of myself.

The organization was close to nature as well: warm and kind volunteers, generous supply of water/electrolyte as well as snacks, and grounded encouragement to make the race my own.

The only detail that threw me off my confidence was the ‘cupless race’ detail that I had missed until the day before. However, I’m glad I worked around it and hope to come back with more preparation and curiosity.

    Thank you!

What an awesome day! I camped across the street and walked to the start/finish. All the volunteers were delightful. The course was so sweet and it seemed everyone I passed (or was passed by haha) shared a big smile. And the ramen with fresh veggies at the finish was the finest post-race meal I’ve had to date. Hope to be back next year if my work schedule (nurse life, sigh) allows.
