About the Wisconsin State Fair Park Foundation
In 1995, community leaders established the Wisconsin State Fair Park Foundation as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) partner of the Wisconsin State Fair. The Foundation has been here ever since to provide donors with a pathway to contribute to our beloved Fair and play a role in improving aging buildings, supporting programming and creating personal legacies at the Fair Park.
Our Collective Impact
Over the past six years, the Foundation has funded more than $730,000 toward projects and programs of the State Fair thanks to the generosity of individual donors and corporate sponsors. Thanks to donors like you, we are able to fund:
Central Park – In 2023, Central Park got a “makeover” with a new fountain and seating area. The fountain, named “1851 Steel and Stone,” pays tribute to the history of the Fair, and a historical marker commemorates a visit by President Abraham Lincoln. In 2024, we continued to improve Central Park and the Amphitheater areas with $45,000 in new seating. This year, we are re-imagining the beloved Milk House with a covered patio, outdoor monitors and more!
Ag Education – The Foundation funds “Ag Discovery Day” at the fair park every spring. The day is designed to give students a better understanding of the agriculture industry in the state. We give over 1,000 elementary school students a day they won’t forget!
Art Programs – The Foundation supports visual arts programs including Plein Air at the Fair for Wisconsin artists and performing arts groups such as the Kids from Wisconsin.
Thank you for supporting the Foundation!

Race was a little pricier than I usually like to spend for a 5k, but overall pretty nice. They offered packet pickup the prior Friday night, Saturday morning, and day of before the race start. Over 900 people ran or walked. Course started just inside State Fair Park and wound around on the grounds. Not a ton to see other than signs starting to go up before the fair and people cheering us on. Water stops felt well spread out and the course was amazingly flat other than the first tiny hill at the start. There was a cream puff mascot taking pictures with runners and after the race you got your free cream puff (my first ever!) and a michelob ultra. They had a cover band playing at the after party area and tons of food and drink options. Race swag included a nice blue shirt and a free ticket to the state fair! And rather than a medal, you get a nice big fair-style ribbon.
Overall I thought it was a nice race, but a little pricey.
