The Coldwater Rumble is the fifth race in the Aravaipa Running – Desert Runner Trail Series, Arizona’s premier trail & ultra run series.
Follow desert trails that wind through the foothills of the rugged and jagged Sierra Estrella mountain range. Many trails at Estrella Mountain Regional Park have recently been re-worked and there are several new miles of trail in use for this course.
The 100 mile race will feature two 60K loops and a 40K loop. Runners will come through the start/finish a total of four times (middle of loop 1, start of loop 2, middle of loop 2, start of loop 3). All courses feature a wide variety of typical desert trail running surfaces including crushed granite single track, rocks, boulders, sandy washes, old jeep roads, and dry wash beds. Be prepared for a wide variety of conditions from very well defined, to more remote and sandy.

This race was in a very good location with very little hills, good for first timers. The aid stations are super well stocked and with very helpful and pleasant volunteers that are there to make your running experience much easy. There are not many spectacular views, but the flora of the place is quite pleasant and it does give you a feel of running in the wild west. The race is well organized and the trail has very good markings so you cant get lost unless you are really looking to do so. There is a small section of pavement so I cant say its a 100% trail, but for the most part it is. The finishing area is well stocked with food and beverage so there is plenty for everyone. Overall is a good race to do once as a first 50k or if you are looking to set and break your PR
