This is my third time on the course. I always say it’ll be the last. I downgraded to the 4-mile this year because I had a 10-miler later that night. The 4 is one out and back, the 8 is twice. At the end of each out-and-back there’s some spaghetti-shaped course in the neighboring school and side street to rack up the last few tenths of a mile needed. I really wish it was at the front of each out and back, because the one massive hill on this course will suck the strength right out of you.
Bodies bring the love though, if you’re first across the line or last, and there’s free ice cream at the end thanks to a local ice cream truck that pairs up every year. On days like today it’ll be the best ice cream you’ve had in a while, and the selection is actually pretty diverse.
My one gripe is I swear there used to be a water point at the intersection before the school, which you’d hit twice (or a third time if you wanted to cross the street) and it was absent this year. The one water point on the course just isn’t enough for the hill and weather on this course, short as it is, and hopefully next year they’ll bring it back. I’d say I won’t be there next year because I’m so tired of doing this race, but I’m already penciling it in so I can give the 8 another shot. Hope to see you there. Bring water just in case.

I’m always doing this race on the hottest day of the year. Never the day before or after the hottest day.
Overcast this year but humid like a terrarium, largely this is a double out and back, with some shenanigans in a parking lot to add a couple tenths where needed. There’s a water point at the turnaround, which normally would be sufficient, but this race really needs another in light of the large hill and the weather.
Carrying 35lbs I was crushed on this race, but even my buddies who were running it normally were saying how oppressive the heat was and how hard the course was. Real pretty scenery around the hill part, which to be fair is 80% of this course, but not really anything in the way of spectators, so if you need external sources to get pumped up, this one may be challenging for you.
Bodies, as always, has wonderful medals and the finish line free ice cream truck was the perfect end.
I did a 10-mile trail run later that night that was only a third as hard as this race.
I hate it. I hated it last year too. When I go back and do it next year I’ll also hate it. Hopefully there will be a third water point. Major kudos to Bodies Race Company for bringing great energy to a barren race.
Somehow the results page was kind

This race got me. I was sick on this one and downgraded to 4M. Out and back on a long hill. Great challenging course but wow was it hot and of course I didn’t have a camelback for this one due to my old one needing replacing and the mail was slow. Bring hydration for sure. The 4M is out and back once, the 8M you do it twice. There’s water at the start and turn around point, but that just wasn’t enough for the heat that day if you’re carrying weight or are just a big drinker. Post race IV was available which I always love. Looking forward to redeem myself on the 8M next year.
