This is a small half and full (and quarter) marathon race that starts at Hayden Lake. The full runs around the Lake and is very hilly. The half runs along the Lake and then through residential areas. Very well organized for such a small race with a nice shirt and medal. The course was very scenic even though we ran through light rain most of the race. Recommended.

Everything about the race was nice except for the puddles we had to run through at the beginning of the race – it had rained the night before – and my shoes and socks were wet for the entire race. This is a very small race (around 550 – 600 half and full marathoners), but the production was a professional as in many bigger races. No expo to speak of and almost nothing at the finish line, but the race was flat and scenic. Swag was nice.

This was a very nice and small (2000 runner) race. The race was more difficult than I expected with rolling hills. The scenery was very nice. Although this was not really a problem, it does seem odd that they do not have an expo (I needed to buy a forgotten armband) the day before. The bibs are given out at the start of the race and you get your t shirt at the finish line.

The race was very hilly and the temperature was in the 20s. The shuttles worked really well. I picked up the shut up at the Academy sports store. They were nice enough to open up at 6 AM for the runners. The finish line was at the college track, which was nice. It was also nice that the gym was open for the runners before and after the race and it was warm. I enjoyed the run through the old part of liberty.

Fantastic course, mostly on road but some trail. Small number of runners. Signup on Friday was either at a race store 25 miles from Belle Island, or for two hours Friday night. I am not sure what they had at the store, but there was no expo or anything like that at the signup on Friday or, for that matter, after the race. On the other hand, it was a beautiful flat course and well organized.

This is a small race, but I was really surprised that there were no mile markers on the run, which is on Highway 1A. The scenery is fantastic since you are running on the New Hampshire coast. I liked the t-shirt, but the race medal was basically a generic high school medal with a sticker on it. On the other hand, the after race party was really nice. If this was 2005 I would have given the race 4 shoes. Also, the webpage is confusing and hard to read.

For some reason the 5K race was at 7am and the half/full marathons were at 8am. This resulted in very heavy traffic around the start lines. Other than that, the course was scenic and went through the St. Jude’s hospital grounds. The post-race party was excellent and held at the local AAA baseball stadium which was also the finish line.

I forgot how hilly San Diego can be. The race was tough but very smoothly run. I am not sure how they promoted this race, but I did not hear much about it on the running blogs or press. I am really surprised they did not even come close to selling out. I may be in the minority, but I thought the jackets were rather cheap. The $20 official t-shirt was also not impressive. I liked the merchandise from Greenlayer – but they had about 20 items left when I showed up at the expo at 2pm. I agree with another comment – it was nice not to have local bands – just a group of competitive runners.

This is really challenging half marathon course with three steep hills between miles 3 and 6. However the course runs through the Antietam Battlefields which made it worthwhile – absolutely beautiful and historic course. There were under 1500 runners for the half and the full which was also very nice and made parking very easy. Only problems noted: 1. lack of water bottles at the finish line (you were given a water bottle and had to fill it up using only 8 cisterns – very inefficient and it resulting in long lines before you could get a drink of water), 2. there was not a starting mat – all timing was off the gun – and it was unclear exactly where the start line was. Use start and finish mats next time, 3. I was not particularly impressed with the medal.

Great course – the first two miles are uphill but the last 11 are all downhill (1000 feet net decline). I expected to do well, but I am from Los Angeles and not used to running at altitude. It just wiped me out. There were 1200 participants and the race was well-organized and the medal and shirt were nice.

The first hill at mile 1.5 was tough, but the second hill at mile 6 was brutal (the race map showed the elevation changes, so this was expected.) The scenery was fantastic – you ran on the waterfront, through really nice neighborhoods and around the back bay. One problem – the water bottles were warm at the end of the race. Everything else about the race, including the medals were nice. If you run this race and want a t-shirt – you have to request and pay for it as a separate part of the registration – they are not provided free to participants.

Very nice race – very scenic and very fast. The 20K is running all four of the public 5K races (because of the train schedule, the races are staggered every 1+ hour). They have a lounge area for the 20K participants and you get a special medal. Only problem was they ran out of water in the lounge area and they did not bother to cut up the oranges. The outdoor women’s 5K world record was almost set this year – Genzebe Dibaba missed her own record by 2 seconds.

Not a particular scenic route, but running over the Mississippi was really nice. Very flat and fast course. For some reason they started the half .1 miles too soon which screwed up anyone trying for a PR. The food at the finish was fantastic – pizza, donuts, fruit, tamales, etc. Very well organized for the small number of people racing.
