This was a fun race there is a good crowd that comes for this. They had the start line on the inside of the park this year. If you are doing the 5 hour running challenge it will be the same look every time. you just do a 3 mile loop over and over again. They have different holiday characters out during the race. If you are not that fast of a runner it might be weird running/walking up to the holiday characters by yourself and having them just stare at you… but was nice having the encouragement. They say you need to complete a total of 8 laps,
1 one mile lap with 7 5k laps to get all 4 medals. but they were nice enough that if you finish all 5 hours you will get all 4 medals (i was 1 5k lap short). they had one and a half water stations during the route, one of the stations was set in a way that you hit it 2 times during the race and the other one was at the start line in the back (more when you finish the race) that you could go to if you had to. It was cool that they set up an area for people that were doing the 5 hour race to be able to bring their own water, Gatorade, power bars, and what ever else you needed and have a holding area near the start of the race so you can refuel as you go.

There are so many people that come out for this race. the 5k and 10k run the same route at the same time and at the very end the 10k splits off and and continues. I was registered for the 5k and when the 10k break off happened i almost took it just to get away from all the people that were doing the 5k.

I was very sad that there are no medals for completing this race. only the top age groups get medals.

but i was very glad that the shirt went up to 3xl size. and it was a nice long sleeve shirt.

This is a good race to do if you are wanting some hills. The hills are not that hard to do but you can push yourself on them and that would be a good practice if you want to do a race in San Francisco.

I like this company’s medals. They create custom medals that are on the larger side… makes me fell like i accomplished something. they also have ITs-Its at the end of the race so make sure you look for those.

The race starts near the SAP center in San Jose. You run about a kilometer and they have the first color stop (if you want more color then try to be enthusiastic and they will throw more color at you). then you go another like half a kilometer to the 2nd color pit area. following the next part will be the longer run without any color thrown at you but there is a water stop. you will continue to run and the next 2 color stations are very close together. they are at the end of 2 streets where you get color then do a small out and back for about a block then when you turn the corner to run down the next out and block there is the 4th color pit area. when you finish all 4 of the color stops you will now make your way to the finish area. but right before the finish line they have a foam area.

It was great weather for a run. The equipment check was quick. There were not enough porta-potties, there never are, long lines right up to race time.
The national anthem was magnificent…great singing by someone…
Start was good, pacing good, very little blocking, felt comfortable.
Entertainment along the way was mixed, some good, some ?
The multiple out and back format was not my favorite, would prefer a big loop, but it was ok.
The were sufficient water stops but insufficient food/electrolyte/energy drink stops. I only encountered one electrolyte stop at about 12 miles, not good, need at least 3, else tell me to bring my own. Thank goodness I brought a small Cliff Bare with me, else it would have been worse.
Nice ending at the park. Race Medal great but Medal tent didn’t know about the additional medal for completing both the 408K and the SV half. I had to ask at 3 different RR tents before someone knew what I was talking about and help correct the situation.
Great post race photos though still to expensive….

This was a very cool race to do. They had different cast members from Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas there to take photos with. The Shirt was a nice tech shirt. The age group winners got a very awesome custom made trophy, but the sad news is there is no medal at this time (I plan to give them my feedback). They did have a raffle with every racer to get great prizes like tickets to Cirque du Soleil. This is an out and back race. Will definitely come back.

This is a fun race. If you are not use to do anything longer than a 5k then this would be a good start to try to go a little longer. the Race is a point to point race that starts down town San Jose and finishes at Santana Row. they have 2 themed miles during the run, Memorial Mile and Mariachi Mile. During the Memorial Mile they have invited local veterans and active military to participate in cheering on the runners. with the Mariachi Mile (the last mile) they have different bands come to play some mariachi music as you run to the finish. There is a big finishing party at Santana Row where you can get discounts on the food and merch. this is also the first in the “Run the Bay” series.

The start of the race is at the Almaden Lake Park. This is an out and back type race. There is one water stop at the turn around part. The route is just the paved park course. It can get crowded with all the people, so if you are looking to PR then this is not the race for you. They encourage people to dress up as super heroes or have super hero swag on wile you run/walk. It is not a timed race but they do give out bibs and medals that are designed with the theme of the race and some super hero swag.

It starts with that there is no parking at the race area, they have you park at a set location and shuttle you in to the race start. so you need to arrive even earlier so you can catch the shuttle (remember that there are 3 races that day, Half, 10k, and 5k). They have plenty of shuttles but the line can get quite long. They first race they let the half people start then about 5 or 10 min later they start the 10k and then they have the 5k after. This race is not the best to get a PR. The start was very packed and the path that you run on is for 2 people wide so if you are trying to pass people good luck. making it a very slow start if you are near the back of the pack. one of the cool things is that you run on this dock path, just be careful in the morning because it can cause the wood to be slippery (don’t want to slip and fall into the water). for the 5k there is one water stop. it is a loop type of race. you get a cotton t-shirt that is built into the price but you can upgrade to a tech shirt for a few bucks more (just make sure you sign up in advance so they can order your tech shirt size). I like how they have shirts that go up to 4XL in mens and 3XL in women. The medal that they have for the race are awesome. they are not just a little thing but one that is the size of your hand. when you are finished with the race you can have some water and a its-it ice cream sandwich. differently a race that i would recommend if you want to just get out there and try a 5k.

This was the first time that they put on this race so i understand some bumps in the road. The race was an out and back on a park course. It seamed like a little community race compared to the the larger races. They had a 10k option and a 5K option. they originally were going to start each race at different times but when it was about to start they gave the option to all start at the same time. this was because when you signed up your chip would be assign to the race you were doing. for the 5K there was 1 water station at the turn around point. they encouraged everyone to come in some 80’s great. they also were playing 80’s music. with the race they included the shirt (cotton), medal, and a Koozie. dogs and strollers are welcome. This race is good for walkers. they had a snow cone truck there and a photo booth. This ace is good for people that want a theme race.

it was a fun race, you start at the entrance into Levi Stadium and then you will run the paved trail next to the stadium, that can get very tight because it is a one lane road. it was cool that you ran onto the field and finished on the 49er football field. would do more races here. be careful with parking because how they had it the parking was on the inside of the race and you had to cross paths of runners on foot.
