All the great sights of the marathon course plus a few extra miles along the river. Great race for the first ten miles, plenty of space and room to run. The merger was rough, suddenly slamming into a packed street with marathoners at a much slower pace. That threw a huge wrench in my pace and energy plan. Hopefully they’ll start the ultra runners more than 30 minutes before the marathoners next year.

It’s been said by everyone, the course has plenty of hills and incredible views! The gear check needs some work (bags tossed in the back of a truck and volunteers who refused to interact with runners at the finish), but otherwise very well organized and supported. The finish area was excellent. If you have the opportunity, go for the Boston to Big Sur Challenge.

This course was intense. Don’t worry about the distance, train for the stairs. There were points I crawled up those stairs. It’s more of a trail run. Incredible views, and fuel stations with a great spread including Swedish Fish, salt pills, Pringles, and Gatorade, but still take your own camelbak. Not everyone finished in the allowed time, it was tough! So worth it!
